Whoops, sorry. Carry on.
No, no, no, NO!!! Send Andrea Parker to a coach to get the accent. She can move like a cat and handle a gun without thinking it’s going to bite her.
Think about that body in leather. But not too long…
I’d give almost anything to have twenty minutes of Peel!
But then again, had you used the word “on,” it would still sound provacative.
OP: I agree that Fiennes was too young, but can’t think of a suitable alternative.
Sir

I believe Ramirez tells MacLeod at one point that he was actually Egyptian, not Spanish, which is even weirder.
What about Lucille Ball as Auntie Mame?
Daryl Hannah certainly didn’t have the brainpower to portray an astronomer in Roxanne…actually, she didn’t have the brainpower to play the cro-magnon woman in Clan of the Cave Bear.
Oh yeah, and while I’m at it–Michelle Pfeiffer as a former marine in whatever that movie was.
I too agree with Denise Richards.
My miscasts?
Nicholas Cage as Superman. Thank God that didn’t happen.
Kevin Costner in anything except Field of Dreams.
Jessica Alba in Dark Angel. I have only seen the first few eps. But already I can see she is from the pout and pose school of acting. A log would give her a run for her money.
Jar Jar and whoever the kid was who played Anakin in The Phantom Menace. But lets face it, that movie sucked in anyones lexicon.
Nicole Kidman in anything but especially the one with George Clooney where a nuclear weapon is stolen.
George Clooney as Batman. And I agree with Arnie as Mr Freeze as well. That role belonged to Patrick Stewart.
Antonio Banderas in anything.
Tom Cruise as Lestat.
With the exception of The Hunt for Red October, the screenplay writers for all the Tom Clancy novels seriously sucked.
I can accept that the other Highlander films sucked. But the original? :nono: Alessan. You watch that smilie won’t be here. Can we get a few more smilies? All my faves aren’t here:

Michael Keaton as Batman - he’ll always be Mr. Mom to me.
Winona Ryder or Richard Gere in Autumn in New York. I’m not sure which one was miscast, but the two of them together just did not click. I wasn’t convinced that they were in love. And :o I cry pretty easily over sappy movies, but at the end of this one I was just wondering why everyone was so sad. I think it was the chemistry between the characters (or lack thereof) but I just couldn’t get into it.
I think that strayed just a bit off-topic. Sorry.
My input on The Stand casting…
I actually saw the movie before I read the book (which I read about five times after i saw the movie), so maybe my opinion isn’t quite as objective, but I thought the characters matched perfectly. Especially the big blonde guy (what’s his name?) as Tom (? correct me if I’m wrong, been a while since the last reading)… M-O-O-N, that spells…
Not a big fan of Molly Ringwald, either, but reading the book, I couldn’t place anyone else who would have fit in that role.
And Laura San Giacomo (sic) was quite shocking to me as Nadine, since all I could remember her from was Pretty Woman.
And for as evil as Flagg (jamie sheridan) was, damn, he was hot.
And then there’s Rob Lowe… sigh he didn’t even need to speak.
I actually made that book a part of my future fantasies, oh wait… that’s a bit too much information…

**Michael Keaton as Batman - he’ll always be Mr. Mom to me. **
I have to disagree with this. I thought Keaton made the best Batman. He was the only one that really understood the duality of the Batman versus Bruce Wayne.
Easy: Bill Pullman as the U.S. President in “Independence Day”. Granted, it was a stupid movie either way, but he was clearly the most unbelievable character ever.
<<Glen Campbell as a tough Texas Ranger in “True Grit.”>>
Although, a great line - “My head is broken!”
Regarding The Stand:
I had read the book many times before I saw the miniseries. I thought the casting was awful. My thoughts:
Fran: Should have been Waspier. A younger Helen Hunt type would have been perfect. Molly Ringworm was a travesty in that role.
Stu Redman: In the end, Gary Sinise was creditable, but he was still miscast. His character was supposed to be a real Texas boy–and definitely should have been taller. The role should have gone to a Billy Bob Thornton type.
Randall Flagg: The guy who played him was too heavy. (Not that he was fat or anything, but Randall Flagg should be real thin.) Should have been played by either a Clint Eastwood type. Besides, Randall Flagg would never have a mullet.
Nick: Rob Lowe was stunt-casting, plain and simple. Pathetic.
Speaking of bad Stephen King miniseries, who on earth cast The Langoliers? Did you ever see such a bunch of washed-up 80’s era TV stars? Geesh! (Though in fairness, the Langoliers themselves were very well-done.)
Arnold Schwarzenegger as Ben in The Running Man. Uh, wasn’t he supposed to be a skinny, sickly, poverty-stricken guy at the end of his rope?
Arnold Schwarzenegger in Total Recall. Wasn’t Dick’s character a bored blue-collar worker looking for escapism within his budget? (Although the movie didn’t really resemble We Can Remember It For You Wholesale in any other way, when you get down to it.
Kyle MacLachlan in Dune, and Malcolm McDowell & company in A Clockwork Orange. These guys are supposed to be in their early teens?
Dragon Phoenix, hate to do this to you, but you’re referring to Kyle McGlachlin. And I’m not convinced he was miscast so much as the entire movie was badly made. It was a travesty of the book and could have been so much better.
I just thought of two more:
Humphrey Bogart (with his New York accent) as a Mexican bandit in the Errol Flynn western San Antonio.
James Stewart as a sneaky murderer and brother of Jeannette MacDonald in Rosemarie. Wasn’t he also one in one of the Thin Man films? (murderer not brother of Jeannette MacDonald?)
Someone mentioned Meryl Streep above, in “The Washed-Out Bridges of Madison County”, which reminded me of:
Robert Redford attempting to play a Brit in “Out of Africa”. I mean, not only did he not even bother attempting the accent, but was there ever an English-speaking actor who looked less British? Hell, why not have Clint Eastwood in that role, too!
Someone else didn’t like Kevin Costner in anything but Field of Dreams, but I thought he brought a good measure of wide-eyed (and unrealistic) idealism to his character in Dances with Wolves.
Worst mis-casting ever…
Keanu Reeves
in… any movie he ever appears in.
