Name this medical condition

I would like to research a problem before seeing a doctor on it. Problem is I cant find a medical term for it to research.

Symptom: Just after a fairly large sneeze, or after throwing a football, etc. , my blood vessels in my arms hurt as though they have too much blood forced into them. This goes all the way into my finger tips and lasts about 3-4 seconds. Then all is well.

Question: What is this condition called???

Thanks!
KnK

I do not have an answer to your question, but I would encourage you to just go ahead and see the doctor. After all, that’s why you go–they examine you, diagnose, then treat you. Why waste time trying to do your own research when you can get a professional opinion right away? Save your effort to research it after the doctor tells you what he thinks.

How long has this been happening (rhetorical question, do not answer)? If it arose suddenly, then it could be some cardiovascular issue, all the more reason to see a doctor.

Just seconding what CookingWithGas said. Don’t muck around with this – get yourself to a medic, pronto!

You have too much blood in you. You need to be bled.

I, however, would recommend getting the opinion of a trained physician.

I’ve had it for many years actually. I also have had varying other medical issues that I am not necessarily happy with the medical community as far as diagnosis/treatment.

I would just like to get a heads up on my own prior to going to my PCP, then getting referred to several different “specialists”, to have them say “Everything appears to be normal”. I’ve actually had a highly reputable rheumatologist tell me one time “then there’s nothing I can do for your arthritis” just because my liver didn’t react well to Celebrex (her favorite perscription). WTF?

**Ethilrist ** - I like your answer! (it actually does feel like I am overfull)

But you don’t know what the PCP is going to say or do, and you don’t know what a specialist is going to say or do.

I had a similar problem for quite a while before seeing my PCP. She gave me a list of maybe three or four possible problems it could be before referring me to a neurologist, who, in turn, referred me to a physical medicine specialist for more testing. It turns out that, yes, I have a problem, and it wasn’t the problem I could’ve sworn I had.

And if the rheumatologist wouldn’t treat you with medication because your “liver didn’t react well to Celebrex”, chances are, you’d have had problems with just about any other drug she could’ve given you.

While I think it’s commendable that you want to do a little research before seeing your doctor, diagnosing yourself from an Internet message board isn’t the way to do it. See your PCP first, get a list of possibles, then do your homework. IANAD, however, so you can ignore me.

Try ‘neuralgia’ or ‘referred pain’, and maybe ‘vagus nerve’.

Have you had your blood pressure checked?

Response to KnK’s medical question: Lackanuky. I have seen this condition countless numbers of times. This disorder began in the 18th Century in the Hiwaiian Islands and sailors brought it to the shores of America. Sometimes this affects the lower limbs and mostly strikes males. It is important to get plenty of bed rest with a mate of the opposite sex. Well, yes. That is what it boils down to. Lots of sex. It is the only cure. So, KnK, there you have it. Now hop to and get busy. Good Luck. :stuck_out_tongue: And if this doesn’t work, go see a real doctor before you die of some dread disease that you wouldn’t wish on me or your worst enemy.

I AM NOT A DOCTOR.

I’m sitting here talking to a friend (Who is also NOT A DOCTOR!!!). He said to check out thoracic outlet syndrome (pressure on the nerves or vessels in the region just above your collarbone). Have you ever had a fractured first rib or collarbone? Just to give you something to chew on.

Anyway, if I wasn’t clear, neither of us are doctors. Go see a doctor.
