I’m curious about what the name of an instrumental rock and roll hit from the late 50’s or maybe early 60’s. It could have been by Bill Doggett because it reminds the listener of
his well-known Honky Tonk.
Anyway, the lead instrument of the tune is either a sax or trumpet (it’s been years since I heard it), and if we assume for the purposes of demonstration that it’s in C, then the
opening notes are: E, C, A, A, A, B. The chord progression starts out with C, changes to Fmaj on the first A note, then
to Gmaj on the B.
