Name Your Estate

I LIVE in ****** ***** “Estates”, a condo community built on the backside (but waterfront side) of a former very wealthy landholder, complete with “Estate”-like Big House.

Myself, I’d rather it were NOT “Estates” … pretentious, IMHO. It could have been “Homes” or “Place” just as well.

And when I lived in a mobile home, in a mobile home park, I wanted to name my **trailer **“Atomic Acres.” Never got around to it :frowning:

Greenacre. And I’d make visitors explain the rule against perpetuities while doing shots.

It’s probably just as well that I’m not a homeowner.

Well, I don’t have an estate, but I’ve named my current house Himring. Works for me!

Chateau de chat eau. Cat water castle.

We called our very mini estate in Louisiana Toad-in-Hole, because we had one.

I’m a toad living in a hole. And I’m glorious. But it would probably be a bad idea to call my home “The Glory Hole.”

We jokingly named ours shortly after we moved in in 1999. My wife paused on her way to the basement to admire our first backyard out the back window. As she stood looking out a hawk took a pigeon out of the sky and landed with it in the middle of our back yard. She was horrified.

It being just before the change of the century we decided to call it Millennium Falconcrest.

Hickory Hell.

We have two hickory trees that drop ungodly amounts of gigantic nuts. Hate those damn trees.

Used to live at Campo Verde, now live at Ragno Fattoria.

Ours should have a name, but none of the ones we’ve tried have ever stuck. It had seven giant maples, but “Seven Maples” doesn’t flow. Since it goes so far back in our family, everyone calls it Grandma’s house. We’ve owned it since 1996.

How about “Maplewood?” Or “The Maples?”

I have always wanted to call my estate Wuthering Gables. But having a flat roofed house in a non windy area I have never got around to doing so.

“I shall be ‘Dr. Niles Crane … The Montana.’”

Sadly there’s only two of the maples left now. Nearby construction and time killed five of them off. I’ve got it: Ghostwood!

Our house already has one. We have no kids and a few extra bedrooms, so we’ve had some parties over the years, and we’ve had more than a few hookups at those parties.

At some point everyone started calling it the “Stabbin’ Cabin.”

I currently live in “Casa de Mobile”. I am going to move in with my girlfriend after the holidays. She calls her house Petite Chateau.

My parents called their previous home “Les Pres du Lac”.

Helen Back.

I don’t know what I’d want to call the homestead. Probably something simple like The Cote.

Dingley Dell.
