In order to slam dunk a fellow on a lesser part of the internet, I need the names (and links to news stories) of US soldiers killed, or jailed for being Gay.
Little help?

If I am not mistaken, being homosexual in the military is not a crime, but is treated as an administrative reason to separate the individual from the service. In the mid 80’s, such administrative discharges were handled in a pretty quiet manner.
For the being killed part, I’m assuming you mean hate crimes by fellow soldiers? The military has no current policy to execute homosexuals unless guilty of a capital crime, so I’m doubtful anyone will be able to provide a cite.
Additionally, military gays aren’t jailed unless awaiting trial (or found guilty) for having committed a crime. Barring this, they’re administratively discharged from service. Again, I’m doubtful that anyone will be able to provide a cite.
Yes, I am afraid I used "locked up’ when I should have said, ‘beaten to death,’ but I will be gosh-darned if I am going to back down!
The Servicemembers Legal Defense Network compiles news articles, statistics, and other information relating to their opposition to DADT. I just browsed their site (http://www.sldn.org/) and wasn’t able to find any information on arrests or murders.
There are statistics on discharges, and testimonials of various kinds of abuse or poor treatment, but not specifically what you’re seeking. Which, if I read your OP correctly, is what you’re seeking to confirm.
PFC Barry Winchell
Got Winchell and Provost I had to fall back on the Newport Scandal.
If it was a slam dunk you should be able to name them right off the top of your head.
Are gays harmed more in the military than they are in the real world?
Actually, he doesn’t seem to have been gay, although certainly the fights that ended in his murder were caused by “gay bashing” and name-calling. Even if gay men were allowed to serve openly and with pride in the US Armed Services this could have occured.
Sorry Paul, I don’t think there’s anything. It’s not a crime, and there seems to have been almost no instances of military men being murdered because they were gay.
The Newport sex scandal was in **1919 **, and the methods used by the (clearly anti-gay) prosecution were roundly denounced and never again repeated.
It was a strange and interesting episode in FDR’s career.
Correct - that’s even the exact words in the US Code:
Is this a test of our abilities to interpret commas?
Thank you all.
I don’t think PFC Barry Winchell was gay. His “crime” appears to be his heterosexual interest in and relationship with a female who was born a biological male.
So did you back down?
No I had to go with the 1919 thing. Really, I had backed myself into a corner through my own ignorance. Homosexuals are (or even were) rarely locked up, they were most often discharged.
