Let’s not forget “coloreds,” once upon a time every bit as acceptable as “White Trash” is today. On this day in history in 1976, President Ford’s Agriculture Secretary Earl Butz uttered these scintillating words:

I still don’t get what point you’re trying to make, B. Just quoting someone and then expecting us to infer the point you’re trying to make is just silly. It’s reminisent of the infamous “if you don’t know why I’m mad, I’m not going to tell you!” line.
