Most of the virtues, like Chastity. Or Marjorie.
And my dad swears he once met a woman named Tootsie.

I do, seriously, like that name. Not sure why. Perhaps because my mother is a Dorothy and Dorcas is close. And Dori is cute. But its just a horrible name to saddle someone with now.
As you all might have guessed, I am an Eleanor. I was the only Eleanor in my grammar and middle and high schools (and there were 4000+ students in my high school). I was the only Eleanor in nursing school and am the only one at work. I am the only Eleanor I know. Most of the older Eleanors are dead now, but I used to meet any number of them when I was younger. Well, I didn’t meet them–I met their friends, all of whom had this to say: “Oh, your name is Eleanor? I had a school chum named Eleanor. She’s dead now. Cancer/stroke/car accident/emphysema.”
I named #1 son Robert. He’s Rob or Robert–NEVER Bob or Bobby. I loathe nicknames ending in “i” or “y” for either sex. Daughter is Laura–and she went to school with hundreds of Laurens, Rachels, Ashleys, Emmas, and Emilys.
I went to school with lots of Tracys, Terrys (or Terris), Lindas, Lynnes, Robins, Julies and Annes.
To me, Deborah or Debbie is someone about 10 years older than me–and there are thousands of them and Susans/Suzannes. I know 5 Susans/Sues/Suzannes and 4 Janes.
My brother is a Carter. I know 2 young Carters-it’s gotten trendy–but back in the day, it was unheard of.
I like classic, simple names: John, Robert, Laura, Jane etc.
I am glad I was not born during the “name the girl after a gem” trend: these are girl’s names that I can’t stand: Opal, Ruby, Pearl. I know 2 Rubies–both much older than I. Also glad I missed the Jason/Justin phase for boys.
Re Henry: that was a trendy name when my daughter was born. There were at least 3 Henrys in her preschool.
I have ten aunts and uncles on my dad’s side. One of my dad’s middle names, and all his brothers share it, is Joseph. All his sisters have Marie as a middle name but one, My aunt Maria.
I have a long-time friend named Dori. Her real name is Dorian. I think she and my mom’s cousin are the only two Dori’s* I know, even though the cousin doesn’t use Dori any more.
In the year 2000, my name was the 43rd most popular name in the country.
For girls.
Motherfucker.
IMO Motherfucker is a horrible name for a boy or a girl.
