NASA to have first splashdown with crew since 1975

The heck happened to aircraft carriers, helicopters and swimmers?

We’ve been tuned into Discovery all morning. I never thought to see… Did CBS, ABC, and/or NBC cover the splashdown live?

NASA TV here.

That was awesome.

What has improved landing accuracy? I recall that in the Mercury program, helicopters had to search to find the capsules. Apollo was more accurate. In all programs, they wanted to get the guys out of the water as quickly as possible.

Why the ever-loving fuck is a boat flying a trump flag?

That’s the same coverage as Science Channel?

Man their coverage sucks. The host runs the show like it is a reality show. “Bob and Doing could die, but let’s see what happens!”

He sounds just like the guy on Overhaulin’.

I ain’t seen no Trump flag!

Apparently some random sight-seers/dipshits were crowding in on the landing area. The woman on the live-stream (a SpaceX employee) quipped that maybe they shouldn’t publicize the landing coordinates next time.

They are circled around sight seeing.

I think it’s neat that they splashed down at the exact scheduled time.

She said there were more boats than there were supposed to see, so on-lookers who they had to run off.

Yeah, couldn’t believe how many of them there were. Like a couple dozen of them (there are only 3-4 official boats). This is why we can’t have nice things…

I see that now. wow.

Why such a delay with the Science Channel’s coverage? The live stream has been good though (aside from the idiot sightseers).

Do the astronauts not say “Roger” anymore? In the Apollo missions the astronauts would often reply to messages with “roger” or “rog”. I want to hear them saying “rog”.

because of this

If “Copy” ever becomes a common first name, NASA and SpaceX will be in a real pickle.

That’s got to be a record for hauling a capsule out of the water.

There is a freaking armada of lookie lous around the recovery ship.

Noticing the sight seekers, it can be an argument for the Navy to be more involved in the future, as well as not revealing the exact time and location of the next splashdown.

Yep, that Trump flag just ruined the whole thing for me.
