NASCAR 1, Marijauna 0...

er… Marley’s cancer did not start in his lungs. If memory serves me correctly, as it frequently does not, it started in his big toe.

Correction noted Dewt. Sorry I brought it up.

You mean I was right?

Holy shit I better go call someone!

I have one of these “fact a day” calendars, with all sorts of nifty (and undocumented) facts. The one I love, and keep on my wall, states “More people are killed annually by donkeys then die in air crashes.”

Woo-hoo! Let’s ban donkeys! Never did trust them, they smell funny.

inkblot

Naaah, just ban donkeys from driving race cars while smoking pot.

Origato drives race cars?

No. He has a toe.

Origato,

Granted, this refers to coke instead of pot, but In this case it holds true. Wasn’t it Cosby (correct me if I’m wrong) who had a skit about drugs that went something like:

Q: But why do you like cocaine?
A: Because it intensifies your personality, man.
Q: Yes, but what if you’re an asshole?

Blackclaw:

“Or are you going to claim that it was lung cancer not your favorite drug that killed him?”

I took that to mean you believed he was killed by the drug itself, not lung cancer caused by smoking the drug.

I did a web search and that’s the link that happened to come up. “Marijuana News” didn’t pay for the study or conduct it, they’re just hosting a copy. Do a Google search for ‘marijuana use and driving robbe’ and you’ll find more sites with the same study.

Or try http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/Misc/driving/dot78.htm - “A low THC dose (100 ug/kg) does not impair driving ability in urban traffic to the same extent as a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.04g%.” - “Plasma of drivers showing substantial impairment in these studies contained both high and low THC concentrations; and, drivers with high plasma concentrations showed substantial, but also no impairment, or even some improvement.”

Not quite as optimistic as the previous link, but it doesn’t exactly show a “driving while stoned = death” correlation.

Mr2001,

I’m not going to argue against the idea that alcohol probably affects your driving in a far worse manner than Marijauna and I commend you for finding some research that backs that idea.

I’d still prefer if you not drive while high. What you do in your own home however, as far as I’m concerned, is your own business.

Yes dewt, you were right and I was wrong. I erroneously believed that Mr. Marley’s cancer started in his lungs. It did later spread to his lungs, but it is believed that the cancerous growth began in his toe.

I’ll get you for this one day dewt, just you wait…

personal research here. driving high is scarier to the driver than driving drunk. the perceived danger of the driving environment intensifies and you’re more likely to drive extra cautiously and slow. if you’re not that experienced with it, you feel very vulnerable. driving drunk is more dangerous for others because you feel invulnerable and are likely to not know (or care) if you’re speeding or swerving. the natural danger of driving seems insignificant. so while driving high feels more dangerous, i believe that driving drunk is more dangerous.

Hi, gang. Just a couple of thoughts:

  1. I think, based on Origato’s first comment to Coldfire, that he doesn’t really have a point or feel one way or another about the situation, but wants to see how quickly he can get himself banned.

  2. My sister was heavily into an assortment of different drugs and when I was younger and dumber, I got into a car with her a few times. A stoned driver cannot seem to go over 15 miles an hour (okay, slight exaggeration), and she drove me nuts! I would rather be with a race car driver than a stoned driver any day.

  3. Oh, I just said, “a couple of thoughts,” didn’t I?

I have respectfully waited until Mr. Dale Earnhardt, Sr. has been properly put to rest
to reply to the nastiness of this thread. It is funny that of all the threads I’ve seen
regarding Dale Sr.'s death, this is the one that was the most seethingly vicious.
And it really wasn’t about him! It was about the risks we all take every day just living.

I had a post on a previous thread which I think said it succinctly:

**
Yeah, what we need is a catch all warning…
To be printed on every product, street corner, skywritten:

WARNING: THE ULTIMATE RESULT OF LIFE IS DEATH! THERE IS NO ESCAPING THIS REALITY.
IF YOU DO ANYTHING TO CAUSE OR ACCELERATE THIS PROCESS YOU WILL BE DEEMED TO BE UNFIT
FOR LIFE AND THUS INELIGIBLE (AS WILL AS YOUR SURVIVORS) FOR ANY COMPENSATION AS A
RESULT OF YOUR OWN ACTIONS.

Shit, better than any legalese and I’m not charging a cent for it. The world would be
a better place if things could be stated so simply.
**

As far as the bet with Texas Spur, you can forget it now, I would consider
multiple death threats (a la , the driver who put Earnhardt’s car into its fatal crash)
to be prima facie indication of the stupidity. Frankly, I’d rather be sued than
have my life threatened.

Origato, the visciousness directed toward you was all of your own accord.

To put it simply, your argument didn’t hold weight, your timing was ill thought out and your rants incoherent.

Your comments were your opinion, which you have every right to express. But when someone disagrees with your opinion, that is their opinion, to which they have every right to express.

Take some of your own advise, I am speaking of your warning label, Every thing has risks, and one of the risks of being a jerk or an asshole, is that people will not like you and will attack you.

Good luck in life and try not to smoke too much weed, it is clouding your thought process.

Have a nice day.

Jack,

Read the whole message before spewing your knee-jerkazoid reaction, OK?

Dude, what I wrote was not a kneek-jerkazoid reaction.

It was an explanation to why this thead turned into a viscious one.

It turned out that way because of you bubbly personality.

In your profile you say you like to stir up shit, and thats what you got, a lot of stirred up shit, that people, me included, threw your way.
It’s not my fault you didn’t duck.

Goodnight.

Repeta: 'Tis not my nature to duck, Fuck!

BlackClaw, you forgot about his little dog too.
You know, “I’ll get you my pretty and your little dog too”

Heloise, I think the rules state that if you only have two point, #3 is HI OPAL!

Racinchikki, You forgot to warn everybody that after you get the car all ready to smoke you have to be careful so you don’t burn your lips on the tail pipe.

And kids, just remember that crack doesn’t smoke itself.

If respect for Earnhardt was your priority, you would not have made that completely idiotic comparison in the first place - especially on the very day he crashed. Now stop talking out of your ass.
