NASCAR/Ford Fans--a question

Ford is phasing out the Taurus. What will replace it?

Nothing through 2004, then most likely the Futura. According to this article…

That and the 500 will be introduced next year as the main large car in the Ford stable.

Looks awfully boxy for a racecar. IIRC, a Busch Series and Winston Cup car have to be of a make and model available to the general public. Is it possible that Ford will develop a car that, while accessible to the public, isn’t necessarily affordable? Would this be allowed?

I’m biased towards Chevy, so I’m not really familiar with Ford products.

Thanks

Boxy? It looks to me as if they just crinked some creases into the standard Ford jellybean shape. In aero terms, it’s probably slick enough.

Though I worked for Gen. Motors for many years, I’m not a Ford hater.
