Okay, I get you need to report the name of the attention-seeking terrorist. But is there a reason one couldn’t always add a “middle name”, also reported, which might contain two of the following mix-n-match names: douche, furk, shyte, scum, donkey and focker?
Come to think of it, Dean Ing wrote a story in which a major media figure worked with the networks (all three!) to ensure that every story about terrorists treated the terrorists and their causes as laughable (while still offering sympathy and concern for the victims).
Is there any chance that 5G was used to help voice the RV’s warning messeges? Or did he have a tape deck with bitchin speakers?

Now, you would think then that that would leave out the 5G conspiracy out, but you would be wrong, one of the biggest names on the Lizard People conspiracy is David Icke, and in a demonstration that conspiracy minded people can not eat just one conspiracy, Icke recently was banned from YouTube because he was ranting against 5G wireless and the false Covid connection.
I saw that, too. The first thing I thought of was that this guy didn’t have a very good grasp of how society works. 6 months from now, only Nashville will remember his name. 18 months from now, even Nashville will have mostly forgotten.
He’s had his 15 minutes of infamy, in any case.
FWIW, I forgot the man’s name within mere minutes of reading it. Perhaps not even a full minute. Which is probably just as well (for him, any next of kin, and any copycats/admirers). Because I’m convinced he’s a pathetic piece of shit who could very easily have gotten people killed and, as it was, caused a great deal of harm to no good end. Just a delusional loser. Worse than that. A criminal delusional loser.

Journalists could just use initials. Anybody interested in the full name could find it somewhere, but major news outlets could refuse to use the full name while still giving out every other personal detail of the person.
I personally cannot imagine withholding the names of these people would make much of a difference.
Probably not, but no reason to encourage those who would hurt others merely because they crave attention. Since this speaks to malignant narcissism, sociopathy or worse - these people generally care about their reputations, but do not care at all about other people.
Of course the best thing would be to get these people the help and attention they need before they snap.

I’m a bit nonplussed by the NY Times referring to the guy as “Nashville suspect” (sorry, probably paywalled) instead of “Nashville bomber.” I can understand referring to someone as a “suspect” before they are convicted, but this guy is never going to have his guilt determined at trial. Since he was identified by DNA from fragments found in his RV, there is no doubt about his identity. I wonder at what point they will stop referring to him as a “suspect.”
There’s the very remote possibility that the guy was set up and wasn’t actually responsible, so perhaps referring to him as the “suspect” guards against misidentification?
So far, I’ve heard virtually nothing about the specific nature of the explosive device itself. I realize the investigators probably have good reasons for not revealing too much info in this stage of an ongoing investigation. Still, I’ve not even heard much in the way of educated guesses about the device to say nothing of official reports.
Has any information been publicly revealed about the explosive device used in the crime? Is there any reliable and informed speculation on its nature?
