Nashville Explosion

I’ve heard that there’s even some sort of archaic communication system called “paper and pen”, that you can use to make a suicide “note”, but really, who uses that sort of thing nowadays?

The RV was playing the Petula Clark song “Down Town” during the event.

The first line of the song is: “When you’re alone and life is making you lonely”

Sounds more like a depressed person. Possibly a covid casualty.

When you’re alone and life is making you lonely you can always blow
up downtown
When you’re depressed, and no one has guessed
You need help, I know, downtown

[Pre-Chorus]
Just drive on down your RV and go blow up the city
Debris on the sidewalk and the burned out cars are pretty
How can you lose?
The blasts are much bigger there
You can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares

[Chorus]
So blow downtown
You’ll be on the news for sure, downtown
You’ll get respect for sure, downtown
FBI’s waiting for you

Way back in April there was a video proudly posted by a 5G CTer berating a couple comms workers in the street. “Don’t you know it’s causing this stupid virus? You’re killing your mum – you proud you’re killing your mum?”

The workers were installing a fiber optic cable.

@Just_Asking_Questions: Bravo! That’s superb!
@DesertDog: Sheesh.
Apparently we have reached the technological singularity. But it’s not quite as Good, Von Neumann, Kurzweil, et al were expecting. In fact it’s the opposite. We’ve now invented a technology, the internet + social media, that is too advanced for mere human nature to withstand. And as a result the invention of this tech signals not unlimited near-instant tech growth, but instead near-instant decline to pre-technology.

This tech so unhinges the mass of the populace with wild ideas like lizard people, 5G causes COVID, and all the rest, that soon in a fit of collective troll-driven insanity they’ll tear down all of modern society, leaving a starving cohort of a couple million people worldwide living a 12th Century (at best) existence. The scarred survivors may even be forced back to almost stone age hunter gatherers.

Sort of a man-made version of Asimov’s Nightfall.

Copycat?

You beat me to it. It’s not clear if the audio is the warning or the Petula Clark song. If not a copycat, then a MAGA connection is looking increasingly possible.

The singularity is when AI exceeds human intelligence, right? The assumption always was that this would occur by AI getting exponentially smarter. But we can’t rule out that it may occur by AI staying where it is an humans just getting stupider.

Criminy! A bomb tech in protective gear is now digging around in the back of that truck! CNN is showing it. I don’t think the gear would provide much protection in the event of a similar blast right on top of him.

It’ll hold the pieces together. Maybe.

Anthony Warner is the suspect. DOA Just released by FBI, Nashville PD, AG, ATF. 62 yo computer tech. No reason yet.

I remember an incident in Bangkok in 1994 in which some Arab terrorists tried to blow up the Israeli Embassy with a van. Their attempt failed, but the body of an employee of the van’s owner was found inside. They had killed him when he delivered the van to him. I wonder if the perp blown up in Nashville could have found himself caught up in something similar. (Probably not, or else the FBI might not be so sure no one else was involved.)

Warner is confirmed by DNA to have been killed in the blast.

I am relieved that it was one deranged guy.

I’m sure AT&T is relieved too.

Even if this one is not a true copycat, of course there will be a concern about copycats.

Heck, I expect many fake copycats, including both “false positives” and deliberately set ones: I can easily imagine some of our more interesting citizens deciding to slam police departments with calls claiming that there is a van of some description set to explode at X or Y location; or to abandon an old RVs in some parking location where it sticks out (with or without sound loop playing), either as misdirection for other crimes or even simply as acts of civil trollery.

I wouldn’t be if it was in the end a deranged guy. Because if the derangement was about the 5G or other tech related conspiracy theory, there are very significant numbers of them out there to cause a lot of trouble. And they (besides the bomb if related) are already on the record of causing destruction of towers and other mayhem by following those unfounded conspiracies.

The FBI et al are not speculating as the reason. ( 5 G conspiracy theories)They said they are interviewing family members etc. He might just have cracked. Who knows what goes through peoples minds?

I would bet that chunks of his skull went through his mind. Try the veal.

The tech industry needs to reassure the public and better explain 5G and safety. The best way to fight ignorance is with information.

Scientific American wrote a balanced article about 5G. It’s worth a read. I’m not troubled by 5G because I’ve read about it from legitimate journals.

About what specific concerns?
