National Anthems too militaristic (esp. USA, UK, Irish)?

Perhaps in your neck of the woods it is different, but arab-looking folks (not me) and white Americans living in the Mid East seem to come under undue fear/suspicion back in the US.

Like that’s somehow exclusive to the U.S?

Jesus Christ, try being a Jew in an Arab country. Try going around preaching the Gospel in Saudi Arabia. You’ll probably get your fucking head chopped off. The “fear and suspicion” that you ascribe to the United States, even if it exists in some small measure, is a drop in the bucket compared to the rampant xenophobia and anti-Semitism of the Middle East. How can we even compare it?

Wel I dont think that the British national anthem is too militaristic as I’ve never actually ever met anyone who knew the second verse no matter how patriotic they were.
As to the second verse many people are slightly baffled as to what it means,“God Save the Queen”?

The tune itself is a dirge and I really feel for the Royals who must have heard it god knows how many times.
As well as that the Yanks use it for My Country tis of thee which can cause confusion.

Before anyone asks I am intensly proud of my country and very patriotic I just think that the anthem isn’t very good.

I’d much rather have “I vow to thee My country” or if it was for England alone then definitely “Jerusalem”

Sorry missed the edit window,I of course meant the first verse ref God save the Queen.

While I’m here I cant understand how ANYONE can get upset about any N.A.
The U.S. anthem is all about giving us Brits a good kicking but in the real world the U.S. is and has been for quite a while one of our best if not the best friend nationally we have .

Theres such a thing as being oversensitive you know.
