We have world maps with the Americas at the center but they’re not especially common… the standard is eurocentric with the Mediterranean at its center.
This is generally because the distortions to the landmasses by flattening out a globe are horrendous. So split the globe in the largest water body(Pacific, but no one in THIS thread needs this parenthetical comment) and let IT be the thing to get distorted because no one cares if the blue is all out of shape. Greenland looks really whack on some of the 2d maps I’ve seen with a US-centric focus.
Enjoy,
Steven
19/20 thought that there would be more americans.
you hear about kashmir on the news, whereas geography is not a point of interest in the media.
That’s the only reason I got that one. Kashmir was the only thing NPR wanted to talk about for a while this year during drive time.
Of course, the only reason I had any idea about the US population was I still remembered the rough popular vote totals from the election, and could extrapolate from there.
Another 6 months and I might have missed both those.
Same score, same missed question, same reason.
20/20. The questions didn’t appear to be terribly difficult.
