It’s Lab Week! Do you know where your laboratory professionals are? Probably in a hospital basement, busting their butts to get results out to your doctors so they can treat you!
I know there are a few other lab rats on the SDMB, so I’d like to wish a happy Lab Week to you all! Any fun celebrations in your neck of the woods?
Because I feel like Lab Week should be more about promoting our profession than just badgering vendors to get us free lunches, this year I put a big effort into making a “what happens in the lab” slideshow. The public relations department was very helpful and got my work posted to the hospital’s intranet page so that all the other departments get a chance to see into the lab and learn a little about what we do.
I put the show up onto YouTube so everyone could share it with friends and family outside of work, and I would like to share it with you. It doesn’t have sound and it’s a very amateur show, but it means a lot to me to share it with people and spread awareness of what laboratory professionals are doing 24 hours a day to contribute to the healthcare team.
