The entire National Science Board, which helps run the National Science Foundation, has been fired by the Cheeto Bandito. This is likely illegal, but since when has that stopped Trump from doing things.
Seems to be borne out by other news sources. Had there been any Trumpish public invective directed at the board, or was this wholly unexpected?
Have they been engaged in less than full throated support for the 45/47 administration and agenda? Maybe some query on the Biggly Ballroom construction? Or has some evidence based questions from the NSB ruffled the feathers of RFK jr’s faith/ouiji board based approach to science?
I’m guessing that, yes, RFK Jr. had a roll in this. And Trump of course does not like smart people, so off you go.

They championed actual science. That is enough.
Of all the horrible, horrible things this administration has done, the destruction of our scientific establishment is in the top three IMO. Science was one thing we were truly great at, used largely (not entirely but mostly) for good, and which benefitted both us and the world. That knowledge and expertise is being destroyed because arrogant petty tyrants do not like people smarter than they are and they do not care who gets hurt to soothe their ego. The murder of our scientific body is one of the chief charges in my daydream Nuremberg trials.
