Natural Burials

Anyone have any experiences with this type of burial? Positive or negative?

I never wanted to be embalmed, and to me this sounds better even than being cremated. This place sounds cool- anyone know of it?

I’m not planning on dying anytime soon, but I’m kinda morbid and think about stuff like this sometimes…

I don’t have an answer to you, but this is the type of stuff that if you don’t figure out and specify clearly before you die, someone else will come and do something else. Don’t find it morbid.

One of my friends was really into this idea and was thinking of starting a place like that. That’s all I know about it. I know she had a lot of books on the subject…

You might already know this but already but almost all tradtional burials let the body start decaying right away as well. It isn’t like we mummify very many people in this country. The embalming process is for funeral purposes and delays signifcant, immediate decay so that family has time to plan a funeral and look at a semi-fresh corpse.

not morbid at all. do the research for yourself, then alter your will accordingly.

my girlfriends - the girl posse - as we’re known on the Dope, have all told one another (and are putting it in our wills) that we wish to be cremated.

i have no desire to be stuck in the cold ground somewhere and let the worms and the beetles have at me. if my kitties can be cremated, it’s damn well good enough for me - and it’s in my will.

Jewish funeral traditions don’t even do that level of embalming. We also use a wooden casket to speed the process of returning to the earth. Viewings aren’t generally done at or before Jewish funerals (it’s thought to be disrespectful to the dead), and at any rate the funeral is almost always supposed to be within 24 hours of death, so embalming isn’t really needed.

If I can get the start-up capital, then in a few years, you’ll be able to hand your loved ones over to WoodChipper Funerals™.

A mate of mine was buried in an “eco” type burial ground that just looks like a wood ,bio degradable coffin and no tombstones .
Very pleasant to sit there with a spliff and remember him.
