Furthermore, because of the Arenas rule, the maximum McDaniels could earn next year as a 2nd round pick, from the Sixers or anyone else, is like $5.5 million, (I don’t know the exact number, but it’s in that neighborhood), an amount not much more (relatively) than they’re paying Joel Embiid, who hasn’t even stepped on the court yet and they have no idea if he can actually play or not.
All I’m saying is it doesn’t make any sense to me, tank-and-rebuild strategy or no.
In tried-and-true Car Talk fashion, the Kings start the third half of their season tonight with George Karl’s coaching debut. I think the general idea is that the next 30 games will serve as ‘extended training camp’, and hopefully things get turned around to start the 2015/16 season.
Looks like Bosh is out the rest of the season due to blood clots in his lung. Miami’s done for the year too probably. They probably should shut it down and not over play Wade to get into the playoffs, where they’ll just be knocked out in the first round. Might as well try to get a lottery pick.
He’s killing the Bulls, who would have a great team with him, Butler, Noah and Pau. Their chances of winning the East weren’t great to begin with, but now I’d say it’s near impossible.
Rondo probably won’t be coming back to Dallas, maybe the Bulls can grab him in the offseason.
They are talking about a 4-6 week time for recovery. They are fucking insane, he needs to be shut down for the season. And shipped to phoenix at the earliest opportunity, maybe whatever voodoo their doctors have over there can turn him into the next Grant Hill.
My team, the Denver Nuggets, has turned into a pretty big shit storm. They fired Brian Shaw, who was certainly not working out for them. He did suck, but I don’t blame him entirely. They fired Coach of the Year George Karl after the 12-13 season where they got bounced in the first round of the playoffs by up-and-comers Golden State.
Enter Shaw, who pretty much says he doesn’t like the roster and wants to change the offense from a run and gun to a half court triangle offense. It has been a poor fit, to say the least. The Nuggets are a young, fast team perfectly suited for Karl’s offense. The players rebelled strongly against Shaw this year, culminating in his firing. I hated the Karl firing at the time, but Shaw was the new shiny candidate everyone wanted.
So what’s next? One name I heard tossed about on the radio this morning was Mike D’Antoni. Oh, please no.
Unless they could lure back George Karl, I would prefer no retreads. I don’t mind taking a shot at a rising star assistant, but his philosophy has to fit the team’s strengths.
