Last night Raptors vs Bucks: - 1st game in NBA history between teams 6-0 or better.
That seems like it would have already happened.

Portland’s bench is outperforming the starters so far this season. Nurkic acts like he’s asleep half the time and racks up early fouls. If he doesn’t start showing up, he’ll find himself replaced by rookie Zach Collins, who is showing huge promise. McCollum is consistent in his inconsistency. Aminu is doing his usual stellar defense job, and Lillard will normally get his points. I think they need to start Stoukas instead of either Layman or Harkless. He has more energy and speed, can consistently hit the three, and is creative on the court. They won against the Pacers last night, but only because the second team kept them in the game.
Yeah, that’s why Denver was more than willing to shed Nurkic. Nice talent, tough to keep him motivated.
Lillard took him under his wing, and there’s clearly some hero worship in return going on. Nurkic has finally figured out the baby hook, which is bread and butter for any high school center who’s been playing for more than a year. It seemed like a mystery to him until this year. He’s been trying to make threes this season, which he is pretty much inept at, making his first one of the season last night. Stotts needs to tell him to stick to what awkward centers do best. He also often seems to be surprised when the ball suddenly appears to be coming his way. :smack:
I was absolutely shocked at that statistic. It seems almost impossible.
Anyway, the Raptors came back from that loss to easily dispatch Philly.
Raptors fans are thrilled about Kawhi Leonard, but I’ll tell you, the guy who’s really thriving in the new look lineup is Jonas Valuncianas. He’s mostly off the bench and playing sensational basketball.
This is an offseason topic, but I’m hearing some noise about Kevin Durant being interested in going to the Knicks after this season. The first time I heard it, I brushed it off as BS. But now I’ve heard this from 3 or 4 different sources on radio or podcasts and I’m having a hard time buying it. Just seems like the anti-KD thing to do.
I’ve heard plenty of Rumors about this, but it seems like wishful thinking to me.
I can’t see any superstar willingly go to New York at this point.
After an embarrassing 3rd quarter clusterfuck and loss to LA, the Blazers decimated the T-wolves last night in a 30-point rout. Nurkic, of all people, was the high scorer, and Myers Leonard had a double-double. Next up, dogs marry cats and bears build outhouses.
The Celtics go to Denver tonight, should be a really good game. DEN -2 at the moment, but I don’t know. Scoring PGs like Kyrie have typically been the Nuggets’ kryptonite, but they’ve been better defensively so far this year.
Wow, great win for the Nuggets over the Celtics last night. But not without some drama. Jamal Murray had 48 points in the game, and with 1.5 seconds left, he could have dribbled out for the 8 point victory. Instead, he decided to heave up a loooong 3 point shot as time expired to try to get over 50 points. Kyrie didn’t like that move at all, refused to shake hands, tossed the ball into the crowd. Will be interesting to see what Adam Silver does about that.
My Pacers are doing pretty good so far. 7-4, good enough for third in the Eastern Conference, including an exciting win at home against the Celtics. We play the 76ers tomorrow on ESPN.
Raptors’ Serge Ibaka was 8 for 8 from the field yesterday against Utah. The day before that he was 15 for 17 against LA. I doubt anyone in team history has ever gone 23 for 25 before.
I was braced for the Bucks to blow out the Blazers last night, but McCollum went for 40 points and the Blazers’ defense pretty much shut down the Bucks.
And Ibaka, of all players. Almost like night and day, comparing his level of play from this season to last.
For the first time ever the Raptors pull off a 4-game sweep on the West Coast. Beating a “Lebronto”
team sure doesn’t hurt. (Granted, the Lakers aren’t exactly GSW.) Two of those games Kahwi “fuck this one year shit” Leonard was sidelined - a healthy sign that T.O. isn’t life-and-death reliant on him for W’s.
Heh - more growing-pains-on-a-new-team for Lebron: It was mentioned on TimandSid how lousy LJ’s plus/minus is, (compared to the Lakers plus/minus without LJ in the lineup, which is apparently way better), but damned if I can’t find anywhere on the internet those exact numbers.
The Blazers, to my surprise, beat the Celtics last night, despite some 20 turnovers and a determined late surge by Boston in the second half of the game. Al Faruq Aminu saved the day with a bomb from way outside his normal range, and some great defense by others. Nurkic dominated the boards with 17 rebounds; Aminu and Collins combined to add another 17. I’m cautiously hoping that Portland will actually have a season worth watching.
The Nuggets dropped a real tight one at home to Milwaukee. I think both these teams might be legit, although Denver has lost 3 in a row now. They should correct that tomorrow night against Houston.
Speaking of the Rockets, sounds like Carmelo Anthony has worn out his welcome. I heard on ESPN radio this morning that Houston is 4th best in the NBA at taking “good” shots, but they are last or near last in shooting. With Harden, Paul, 'Melo, Eric Gordon, it’s amazing that those guys can be missing so many open shots.

I dunno what happened to Kyle Lowry last night but, oh well, can’t win 'em all.
