Bill Davidson the owner of the Pistons gave a long interview in the Freep today.
He says Donaghy is just the tip of the ice berg in reffing. He said when it was revealed what group was reffing the game determined whether the Pistons had a chance to win.
Accept it or not ,it is a problem for the league. I do not know if the league can clean the game up itself. Self regulation always results in whitewashes and cover ups.
I’ve edited the thread title to make the topic more clear. Not to be dismissive, because I’m sure he’s a good guy and all, but this is just the grousings of an older man who pretty much suggests that every time his team lost, it was because somebody was out to get him. In the quote you referred to he doesn’t say the games were fixed, he says some refs had it in for the Pistons. He does very bluntly suggest games get fixed, but I think he’s talking out his ass.
Dad, you’ve got a boner against reffing and the NBA, don’t you?
Ew.
The article is not just about reffing. It is interesting to read about Isaiah and Laimbeer. No children, this is not about reffing although it is a problem.
Some moderator changed the title. I did not say it was about reffing. He did. It is much more and reveals Davidson’s impression of the league from his viewpoint .
It was a wide-ranging interview, but you talked only about the reffing issues in the OP. I thought that was what you were most interested in, since you’ve started several other threads on that subject.
It was not the point at all. I found the discussion interesting on many subjects. The Thomas stuff, the other owners and Bill Laimbeer etal. But you can not forget the reffing.
