OK, apparently Yahoo! doesn’t think anyone interested in the NBA has a job, as 3 pm is the latest available, save one day. Tomorrow. There’s a 5pm slot open.
That’s the best available, so we need to fill this league quickly.
Duffer, J.C. …
I’m looking to get into a Fantasy Minor Hockey League now that the NHL is
Locked-out.
I spent about an hour looking for one last week and time is running out.
I think you’d be hard pressed to mind a minor league format. Best bet would be to check out sites relating to USHL, IHL and the Junior league. Let me know if you find one. I’ll join.
Hey duffer, it looks like Yahoo just opened up a whole bunch more time slots, including evenings. I’ve posted a message about this in the football league we’re in.
Anyway, I’d be interested in joining (or running) a league, as long as it’s not head to head. I’d much much much prefer rotisserie.
I’d be more than happy to change it to rotisserie. I’ve never played FBB before and with Hockey done and almost 5 months to start NASCAR, I’ll try anything the majority wants. So go ahead and give opinions on it.
I’ll set a tentative draft for next Fri or Sat and go from there.
I’m in. This Friday should work… if not I’ll prerank my players.
Couple of suggestions?
Set the Max games played to 82 rather than no max, I think that works better for rotisserie. Otherwise, the game is just to switch players in and out of the starting spots as much as you can. With the cap, you’ve got to budget to some extent.
I also see you added a couple of extra scoring categories - Field Goals Made, Free Throws Made, and Technicals.
I think Technicals is sort of a goofy stat, since there are so few of them - sure makes Rashard Wallace a bad pick though. Personal Fouls would be a little more evenly spread out.
I also think that adding FG Made and FT Made makes scoring incredibly important. If you really want them, maybe get rid of points scored?
And I’ve always disliked Turnovers as a stat. I’d like to try it with Assist / Turnover ratio instead…
Anyway, just my thoughts, to get the discussion started. Feel free to ignore them - I’ll play no matter what the categories are - just as long as it’s not head-to-head!
So, we need to get some teams in this league. 8 would be the bare minimum to have it enjoyable, I think.
About the scoring- I say keep it simple, and kill the following categories:
Field Goals/ Free Throws made- These stats have no real value other than their respective point values, and I don’t think it should matter if my guy scores 30 with zero free throws or twenty free throws. I know the same logic sort of applies to threes made, but three point shooting is at least a valuable commodity to a real basketball team. In other words, a guy who scores by making a lot of threes is worth a little something extra to a team, and I think the league should try to reflect real basketball. Does any of this make sense to anyone?
Turnovers- These are pretty much directly correlated with playing a lot of minutes, scoring a lot of points, and handling the ball a lot. I don’t like the idea of having to keep a guy on the roster just because he doesn’t turn the ball over, because more than likely he doesn’t do a whole lot of anything on offense. It’s like strikeouts in baseball- I don’t care in what manner he chose to not help the team, I want to know what he did that was positive.
Personal or Technical fouls- Again, it’s just not something I’d consider if I was putting together a real team, so I’d rather not consider it when putting together my pretend team.
The important thing is, we need more teams. Come on, you bastards- with me in the league you’re already guaranteed not to lose.
