ESPN’s NBA Insiders talk about their predictions for the future of the Brooklyn Nets here:
Chet Holmgren may have suffered ligament damage in his foot as a result of his slip in the pro-am.
Yep. Holmgren will miss the entire 2022-23 season. I wonder if the Oklahoma City mayor can get his playoff ticket money back.
Well thank you very much, Mr. Durant. Can we go back to running the franchise again, now?
A couple of knee injuries to report.
Magic guard Gary Harris, who averaged 11.1 points last year, suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee and will undergo further evaluation.
Celtics guard Danilo Gallinari suffered a knee injury during a FIBA World Cup qualifying match and will have an MRI taken.
The Clippers are moving to their own arena, the Intuit Dome, in time for the 2024-25 season, and here’s an article about it.
well before every time the lakers had a few down seasons we’ve heard “it’s the clippers’ time now!” and it just never happens I mean if steve b can drop his millions from MS at least make it competitive why not ?
Cause we sure know the NFL can’t get rid of the ghosts of the raiders I mean it’s telling that I saw more people wearing raiders gear at the SB than rams stuff and the chargers just need to go back to SD and well we don’t talk about the angels much unless its about shotani
The Knicks are finalizing a $100 million contract extension with RJ Barrett, which will complicate, if not end, their pursuit of Utah’s Donovan Mitchell.
Incredibly, if Barrett ends up signing this extension, he’ll be the first Knicks draft choice in 23 years, since Charlie Ward in 1999, to sign a long-term extension with the team after his rookie deal expired.
Clippers guard John Wall admitted that during the height of the pandemic, through dealing with the loss of his mother and grandmother, and recuperating from his Achilles injury, he considered committing suicide. LeBron James immediately tweeted out love and support to him.
If you’re in a dark place and need help, the National Suicide Hotline’s number is 988. It helped me, once.
Oh, have I mentioned this yet? NBA 2K23 is coming out with a fantastic new mode called MyNBA Eras.
You can start in 1983, in the Bird/Magic Era, and try to win as the Lakers or Celtics, try to beat those teams, or position your team to draft Hakeem Olajuwon or Michael Jordan in 1984.
You can start in the Jordan Era in 1991 and see if you can replicate Jordan’s three-peat and see how many times he could have won the title if he hadn’t left to play baseball. You can try to stop the three-peat before it happens. You can see about positioning your team to draft Shaquille O’Neal in 1992.
Or you can start in 2002, in the Kobe Era, right after the Lakers’ three-peat and see if you can make it four in a row for them, beat the Lakers, or draft LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Carmelo Anthony, or Chris Bosh.
All the while, you get era-specific teams, uniforms, courts, and rule changes, which you can keep past their real-life dates, or allow to change. You can keep the Sonics in Seattle if you want. You can keep the Clippers in San Diego.
Cool.
Hopefully the Exhibition mode is fully unlocked and you can play any team against any other team. I want some cross-era action!
Crap, why didn’t I think of that? Yes, please!
Free agent center Montrezl Harrell’s felony marijuana trafficking charge, which would have carried a maximum sentence of five years in prison, has been reduced to a misdemeanor charge of possession, which will be expunged in 12 months if he keeps his nose clean.
He averaged 13.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game for Washington and Charlotte last year.
Holy shit! CLEVELAND OUTTA NOWHERE!
Cleveland acquires Donovan Mitchell.
Utah acquires Lauri Markkanen, Ochai Agbaji, Collin Sexton, unprotected first-round picks in 2025, '27, and '29, and pick swaps in '26 and '28.
Sexton signs a four-year, $72 million contract with the Jazz as part of a sign-and-trade.
Mitchell is under contract with the Cavs for the next three years.

I think I fixed a mispelling.
More about NBA 2K23’s MyNBA Eras mode. I swear, this thing is making me excited enough to wanna buy an XBox Series X/S.
Original reports indicated that it was a torn meniscus, but the Celtics are now confirming that it’s a torn ACL in his left knee, which generally requires a recovery time of 6-12 months. Gallinari will aim for a late-season return.
He also tore his left ACL in April 2013 when he was with the Nuggets, requiring multiple surgeries.
Stephen A. Smith went on like a three-minute rant against the Knicks for not being able to close the deal on Donovan Mitchell. Cry me a river. Small-market teams deserve nice things, too. The world does not revolve around New York.
And now with his legal troubles mostly behind him, the Philadelphia 76ers scooped him up on a 2-year deal.
The Knicks have been really bad for a really long time. They’ve had a good season or two since 2000 but that’s it. They are directionless. I wouldn’t want to play there, either.
After a one-year suspension and amidst an organization-wide revolt and the possible loss of sponsors, Robert Sarver has committed to working to sell the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury.
And his “apology” is bullshit.
“As a man of faith, I believe in atonement and the path to forgiveness,” Sarver said in a statement Wednesday. "I expected that the commissioner’s one-year suspension would provide the time for me to focus, make amends and remove my personal controversy from the teams that I and so many fans love.
“But in our current unforgiving climate, it has become painfully clear that that is no longer possible – that whatever good I have done, or could still do, is outweighed by things I have said in the past. For those reasons, I am beginning the process of seeking buyers for the Suns and Mercury.”
“Words that I deeply regret now overshadow nearly two decades of building organizations that brought people together – and strengthened the Phoenix area – through the unifying power of professional men’s and women’s basketball,” Sarver wrote in his statement.
That is not an apology, Robert!
