NBA Playoffs! (for the 3 or 4 NBA fans on this board)

Wade’s block was nice - but nothing in that game compares to Paul Pierce’s last minute 3… Kevin Garnett had an awesome throw down dunk over James Jones. 2 3’s from Pietrius, 1 from Dooling, 4 clutch FT’s - Celtics take game 5 and are one game away from the NBA Finals… Let’s go Celtics!

That was a big 3 by Pierce. Wasn’t having a great game, but delivered in the clutch.

You know, if the refs hadn’t turned game 2 into such a clusterfuck, this series might already be over.

The C’s hit their free throws down the stretch and that was pretty much the difference.
Agreed, this series should be over if not for the officiating abomination that was game 2. Bosh will probably be back for game 6, right?

He was back for game 5.

Are you sure that wasn’t his stunt double?

:stuck_out_tongue:

Bosh had 9 points and 7 boards in just 14 minutes, but the Heat seemed to have problems defensively against Garnett while Bosh was in. There were multiple possessions where Rondo just lobbed it over Bosh to Garnett for open layups. Bosh seemed to be playing it like another defender was supposed to rotate over to help, but never did.

Ah. I turned the game on in the 4th quarter and never saw him on the floor. Or never noticed him.

Or CGI Jar Jar Binks?

Spoelstra is being raked over the coals on talk radio for not playing Bosh in the 4th quarter.

In that short period of time, he was -14!

Kind o’ hard to have Bosh out there and watch the point swing go 14 the other way.

Mesah Jar Jar Bosh.

Well this is interesting. Spurs look mortal now and the Celtics are taking it to the Heat. As a Laker fan, you’ll never catch me rooting for Boston, but I can say that I want Boston to lose in the finals to the West champion.

With Bosh out for most of the series, Spoelstra probably has a chance to keep his job, especially if the rumors that Pat Riley really likes him and doesn’t want to return to coaching are true. But losing in the ECF will hurt the Heat a lot more than the Celtics, who are definitely overachieving right now with an injured roster and a rejuvenated KG.

I read that it looks like OKC has figured the Spurs out. I’ve missed most of the games in this series so I don’t know how true that is, but they were beaten pretty bad in OKC the last time they were there. Looks like OKC in 6 now and if so, I can’t hate on that team (except Perkins, stupid former Celtic :p). Well, that and their owner’s douchebaggy stealing of the team from Seattle. I want the Spurs to win but afraid OKC will.

Howard Schultz was the douchebag in that situation. He couldn’t get Washington to fork over money to renovate the arena that they had just renovated a decade before, so he sold it Clayton Bennett, the OKLAHOMA CITY BUSINESSMAN, and tried to claim that his decision to relocate was a complete shock. Schultz only sued to rescind the sale after his image took a beating.

If the Heat loses to Boston Spoelstra is gone. If they beat Boston and lose in the finals he’s gone. If they win people will say they did it in spite of him, not because of him. He’s really in a no-win situation.

Really? I know it seems like the world is collapsing around him right now, but it was just a week or two ago that I read an article or two on how if the Heat don’t win it all this year, Spoelstra’s job is still safe because of the Bosh injury.

Personally, I think that should kind of excuse him, both for the fact that injuries to a key player when you’re thin isn’t really the coach’s fault, and that I really don’t see anyone significantly better on the horizon. Unless they can get Phil Jackson. Then they definitely need to dump Spoelstra and get the Zen Master

If the Heat lose to the Celtics, I think he loses his job. If they play well, but lose in the finals, I think he might keep his job. But let’s be real here, he is a terribly ineffective coach. He is draws terrible plays at the ends of games, doesn’t seem to motivate or push his star players to be successful, isn’t able to convince his players to give a consistent effort, nor does he seem to engender much loyalty.

Interesting game tonight. Everything going the Spurs’ way early. OKC went on a run, but SA still up big. OKC seems to be regressing back to the team from the first 2 games. Spurs are hustling, getting to all the loose balls. Not seeing any extra effort from the Thunder. Jackson killing from outside; 4-4 from 3.

The Thunder are playing as if this game doesn’t count.

Thunder making a game of it. Got the lead to under 10.

[side note]Wow there are a lot of white people in Oklahoma City. Judging by what I’m seeing on the TV, practically all of the black people in the arena are on the court or on the sideline.[/side note]

Charles, is that you?

Oklahoma City’s black population makes up about 15% of the overall population but the income disparity is pretty bad.

Yeah, I know, it’s Oklahoma, what are you going to do? I just found it a bit amusing is all. I only see one or two black faces in the stands, and I’m pretty sure one of them is Durant’s mom.
