NBA Playoffs Predictions

Yeah, whenever there’s a game like that, we just ** have ** to rub it in

Anyone interested in the Celtics/Pacers series? If you love the three-ball, Celtics are the team to watch. It’s hilarious watching someone drive into the paint, get set for an open shot, only to pass the ball out to a teammate waiting behind the three-point line. Truly unconventional basketball.

Oh and that overtime Wolves v. Lakers game. Wow! I am so glad Wolves can shoot free throws, and even with the ref’s blown calls (a guy jumping AWAY from a shooter gets called for a foul??), Wolves win. I still say Lakers will win in 7 because they always do, but they will be creamed by the Spurs, who I believe swept the regular season series against the Lakers?

Kobe’s shoulder is injured so it will take the Lakers 7 games to beat the Wolves.

I don’t think I’ll ** ever ** be able to forgive the Suns.

I’ll take the Lakers in 6.

Whew!!! On to the 2nd round!! Now for the annual rematch of the two powerhouse California teams with the two 60-win Texas teams. Texas has the homecourt in both series, but any of these 4 teams can win on the road with ease.

I was dead-on for the 1st round results, but it is the easiest round to pick for obvious reasons. It gets much harder from here on out, and I just hope to be wrong on my Mavs/Kings pick.

I still can’t believe the Magic blew a 3-1 lead against the Pistons. I hope we get that other O’neal fellow next season :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve gotta gut feeling that the other O’Neal’s going to the Spurs

And what’s up with the Mavs having to play back-to-back games in Sacramento? How’s that fair?

Man… I just heard officially about Webber’s injury keeping him sidelined for the rest of the playoffs, and I feel awful about it. He is such a talented player, plus he makes the players around him better. From watching it happen live (on TV), I didn’t think it was going to be that bad. He did collapse in a heap, but I had hoped when he limped back on the floor that he might just miss a game or two.

The Kings are such a deep team, they could still beat us. It obviously increases our chances, but I don’t like the King’s possible matchup with the winner of Lakers/Spurs anymore. The winner of that series should beat the Kings without the physical contribution of Webber.

But if Dallas gave a performance like Thursday night every night, they would never lose again.

I don’t feel bad at all. I danced a jig when I heard Webber was out for the rest of the playoffs. For two reasons: first, it means Dallas will have an easier time knocking those pompous, rub-it-in- when-we’re-winning, whiners from Sacto off. Second it means that should the Lakers get out of the second round (which I think they will), they will have a team they have a decent chance of beating since they own Dallas and would have a much easier time against a Webber-less Kings.

Good times. And neither KG nor T-Mac should have opened their fat mouths. Nice to see Rose learned from their mistakes and said something along the lines of, “We’d rather be up 3-1 than tied at 2-2, but it’s not like we feel the series is over if we can get a win tonight since we’ll probably need 5 wins to close them out.”

The Lakers aren’t going to be swept by the Spurs! Yee-hah!

Und jetzt, it’s all tied up. Wheee!

At least I was wrong about the right series. Dallas played very well against Sac, and they should hold their heads up high. The Chris Webber injury hurt the Kings, but the Mavs were blowing them out in Game 2 even with C Webb in there, so you can’t predict what would have happened if he had stayed healthy. Nick Van Exel played like he was Neo in the Matrix, and could make whatever shot he wanted anytime he felt like it.

The Spurs did exactly what I said they would… beat a team that did not have as much overall talent (the Lakers). Shaq and company didn’t deserve to win it, especially considering the fact they didn’t show up until after the New Year. He was so overweight, even at the end of the season, it was almost embarrasing. I saw a replay of the lob pass from Kobe to Shaq that completed the 4th quarter comeback over Portland during the first championship run of 2000, and Shaq hasn’t jumped half that high all season. Maybe he’ll actually workout this offseason and there will be some real drama next year.

So congrats to the Spurs, a very good team that exudes class. A good old-fashioned Texas shootout between the Mavs and the Spurs, and I couldn’t be happier. Since my original pick (the Kings) were pimp slapped and shown the door by the Mavs (:D), I pick the Spurs in 6 over the Mavs. Dallas can get smoking hot and win a few games, but the Spur’s perimeter players gained a lot of confidence against the Lakers, so that and home court should rule the day.

But it wouldn’t bother me one bit to be wrong one more time.
