I took a look at the Cavs roster from 2003-2010, not a single player could have started on any of the above teams. Maybe an 80 year old Shaq in 2010. The best the Cavs could put around Lebron in seven years was Mo Williams and Larry Hughes.

I was surprised to find that apparently Cleveland is only about a fifth to a quarter of Chicago’s population (metro area for both). Given that, 1.3 vs 2 is pretty favorable.
Cleveland metro area is around 2.1m, so that’s significantly more than half of the people in the whole area being there. Actually people from all over the world came - the news shows were interviewing people from Indonesia and Lebanon and all sorts of random places. Cleveland fandom spreads around the world like some weird sort of leprosy. I don’t know if it’s still true, but a few years ago the Browns Backers was the biggest fan network was the biggest of its sort in the world with clubs in like 20 or 30 countries.
Cleveland isn’t even a basketball town - if the Browns somehow won a championship that number would manage to go over 2 million.
