I don’t know what the over/under on Kobe field goal attempts was, but whatever it was you’d have been a fool not to take the over.
And the Warriors get their record. I was rooting against them, I have to admit.

I have less interest or care about Kobe’s final game than anyone, but dude, that was an impressive finale to a career. I honestly have only seen him play a few times here or there and a few highlight reels, but even with them passing the ball to you a bunch, that was impressive.
I don’t know if he’s a nice guy or not, but it is nice to seem him go out on a high note.
I follow tennis and truly hope Federer wins a Grand Slam at his final match.
That was impressive. I figured Kobe would not go quietly, but this was a much bigger bang than expected.
Enjoy your retirement, Kobe; you’ve earned it, even though you DID prevent my Pacers from winning the 2000 NBA Championship, you son of a bitch.
I never liked the guy but had to give him props as a player. Nice to go out with a bang instead of a whimper, like his former teammate, Shaq.
Ditto, Magic 09.
As a die hard anti Kobe fan, I’m staying out of this one…it should suffice to say that it was nice to have my brother to complain with. He was a good player and all that but this was a tiresome regular season.
The person I wanted to take a lot of shots last night was Curry. I was really hoping he’d take the single game 3 point record last night. He had 10 after 3. I know he needs to rest for the playoffs and all that…ah well, I’m sure he will take it someday.
Curry certainly overshadowed Damian Lillard, who also set some franchise records last night.
They were off my radar, me being in the east. I managed to see a few of there games though and Lillard and McCollum are a ton of fun. I’ll definitely be cheering for them against the Clips. I reckon those two will probably score their way to at least two Portland wins.
Paul George just went OFF in the second half, and my Pacers won Game 1 of their first-round playoff series against the Raptors, 100-90.
George is the best player in the series and Monte Ellis (while I’m not really a fan) has long been an underrated scorer. Not to mention Indiana plays good defense. So, if you allow for the fact that the Raptors may very well have playoff demons (the only demons in which I believe), Indiana has much more than a punchers chance.
The Raptors are the San Jose Sharks of the NBA. Cowards all.
I mean I almost expect the Pacers to win that series. Paul George had a stretch of the season where he played like poo, which if he can avoid and Myles Turner keeps playing strong, they’re better than Toronto. Healthy George Hill doesn’t hurt, either.
They choked in the opener last night, missing a lot of shots, with Lillard and McCollum getting shut down by the Clippers D. It’s easy to see why the Clippers are the most disliked team in the NBA, as they can get pretty thugish on the floor and Doc Rivers is a whiny prick. The scrubs were doing a better job than the starters during the last bit, with Kaman putting in a solid performance of picking and scoring. Why Plumlee can’t hit the simplest two footer is an infuriating mystery.
Short of kicking Paul in the kneecap, I don’t see them getting past five games if this continues.
Sounds like Steph Curry is out tonight for Game 2. I hope the Rockets can take advantage, but I have my doubts. If the refs continue to “let 'em play,” Harden will continue to be frustrated.
No Steph, no matter. The Warriors win Game 2 over Houston. Toronto gets a win and surprisingly the Mavs beat OKC.
They win easily, despite Harden’s histrionics and flailing and flopping. He really does stink on the defensive end, doesn’t he, or was that just an off night?
That was a hell of an end to the OKC game.
In other news, in today’s paper Damian Lillard is trying to spin the loss to the Clippers, saying that the 20 point loss wasn’t as one-sided as it looked. Really? The team played shitty defense and couldn’t hit their asses with both hands, but it wasn’t one-sided? We’ll see if they can step up tonight and steal one in L.A.
Can we please just go back to a best of 5 series for the first round of the NBA playoffs? The Warriors and Spurs have basically already won their series. The Grizzlies managed a whopping 68 points against SA last night! They only scored 20+ points in one quarter. Best of 5 also allows a greater possibility of an upset just because winning 3 games is easier than winning 4.
I also have to say I’m surprised how much not having Avery Bradley is killing the Celtics.
I’m all for it. And if they’re going to stick with seven games, why in the hell do they need to have four days between the first two games (which are in the same fucking city!), when all season long they do back-to-backs or games with one day of travel in between?
I was curious about this so I looked at some historic 1st round results.
Last year, only one first round series went 7, but it was a good one (Spurs vs. Clippers)
2 years ago, 5 of the 8 series went 7.
3 years ago, 1 series went 7.
4 years ago, 2 series went 7.
5 years ago, none did.
6 years ago, 1 did.
I could go farther back, but it does seem that having best-of-7 in the first round is superfluous more often than not. Those are a few days that could be better used breaking up back-to-back sets in the regular season.
