Neanderthal wife beaters deserve...

Be careful Jimmy Joe Meager. You clearly don’t understand who you’re messing with.

If you agree it happens less frequently, why do you need a cite?

Question is - are they sympathetic victims, or just pussies who deserve it?

Inquiring minds want to know!

You’re right! Obviously if it happens slightly less it means that the victims are pussies who deserve it!

Could be either. Depends on what kind of physical, economic and social disparities exist.

I think he’s saying that he agrees it happens less frequently but the part about Dio saying it doesn’t happen anywhere near as close is the part he has trouble with.

What makes the difference is that male “victims” of abuse from women are not encumbered by the same physical, social and economic disparities that female victims of male abusers have to deal with. Men are seldom, if ever, as powerless with female abusers as women are with male ones. Men are statistically far less likely to be killed by female abusers, and it’s much easier to get out of those relationships.

Trying to equate the situations is bullshit in the same way that white people whining about “reverse racism” is bullshit. Everything isn’t always equal. People don’t have to try so hard to find perfect moral symmetry to everything. Sometimes double standards are justified.

I asked for a cite to support the claim of “almost always”. “Less frequently” and “almost always” are two very different things.

Why can’t you just agree that wife beaters are scum? Why are you so concerned about qualifying and diluting it?

The reason people are mocking you over this is not that anyone disagrees that, on average, men are more powerful etc., but because an average situation tells one nothing about any person’s particular, specific situation. Painting with an overly broad brush and making disparaging remarks about male victims of domestic abuse doesn’t make you some sort of internet tough guy or gender hero, it just makes you look like a fool.

No-one is attempting to paint the sort of perfect moral symmetry you are invoking as your justification, or is denying that the majority of domestic abuse is caused by men attacking women. Is that some sort of pre-emptive straw-man?

I *think *I do, but I could be wrong. I think DtC is someone who:

  1. thinks post count directly and positively correlates to intelligence;

  2. is pathologically incapable of considering any opinion other than their own;

  3. is amusingly arrogant;

  4. thinks slinging insults is the epitome of wit;

  5. thinks having a high post count is the same has having something worthwhile to say; and

  6. is an idiot.
    Just my take on things. YMMV.

I don’t give a shit about my post count and never have. I virtually never even think about it or notice it. I’ve been on the board for a long time and I’m a motormouth, so it’s added up. If anything, I think the number is embarrassing and indicative of a message board addiction.

ETA, points 2 and 3 are probably true.

It’s like being in the presence of Batman, I tell you. Or Chuck Norris. Or Chuck Norris in a Batman costume.

Where the fuck does this shit come from? This isn’t the first thread where you’ve done this “tough guy” thing with me. What the hell is any of this in reference to? When have I ever said I’m a tough guy? Is it because of that thread where I said I’d intervene if I saw a guy verbally abusing a woman in public? That makes me a wannabe tough guy? Ok, then I’m a tough guy.

I’ll tell you if you promise not to hurt me.

I promise that if I ever see Dio hurting Scumpup, I’ll intervene.

I don’t promise I’ll intervene quickly, mind you. I’ll need to laugh for a few minutes first at the flailing disorganized kitten-fight spectacle.

Fair enough. So how much less frequently do you think it happens? How far apart are you from DtC on this anyhow?

The AIDV states that 85-95% of domestic violence victims are female. Up to 15% are male, then, not an insignificant number.

I’d like to know how they came to that number, though. I’ve seen some statistics that seem wildly off.

I’m on Earth, he’s somewhere near Uranus. <snicker, chortle chortle>

I’ll tell you what… you get DtC to quantify what he meant by “almost always” and then I can tell you how much less frequently than that I think men are the perpetrators of domestic violence.

85%-95% sounds about right.

You agree that men who hit women are scum, do you not?
