Nearly Built My PVR - But I Have A Sound Card Question

After spending more than I should have for the sake of watching my downloaded videos on my TV I am just about done with the project. For the moment, I’m going to be using onboard sound to output to my receiver.

That will be fine for a bit, but I want to put something in for some good 5.1 sound. I’ve got a decent receiver, so that isn’t an issue.

However, on doing some reading I see that some sound cards give you trouble with outputting to a DTS (or other) decoder. Particularly, it seems that Soundblaster cards don’t play nice as far as outputting DVD audio to an external decoder.

What I want is to just feed into the coaxial audio port (or SPDIF port) on my receiver and have things work with a minimal of pain-in-the-ass-ness.

So, anyone have any ideas of what I should look for or stay away from?
