Neat... I now have two medals.

Yup… got’s me a couple more little colored pieces of cloth to put on my uniform. First, and definitely foremost is the National Defense Service Medal. Of course, everyone that’s is/was active duty military as of 11Sep01 was awarded the medal. It’s still pretty cool tho’.

And I recieved my Good Conduct Medal. Basically, it’s just saying, “You made it 3 years without seriously f*cking up.” and most people call it the Breathing Medal. But that’s okay… I still think it’s nice to have.

You can see pictures of these ribbons here.

Congrats! I’m sure you have everyone’s gratitude for not seriously f*cking up! So are these your first two? How many have ya got?

The Navy awards its Good Conduct Medal for “Four Years of Undetected Crime” - at least that’s what I was told when I got mine. I had a total of 5 medals/ribbons when I got out after 11 years, but I always wished I could have gotten the Antarctic Service ribbon - I liked the way it looked.

Congratulations! Here’s wishing you many more awards!

WellI have 37 medals! [sub]for gymnastics[/sub]

Seriously, congrats on making it thus far!

Thanks guys. Heh.

MachV… I now have three ribbons. Those two and my BMT ribbon.

Congratulations and thank you, Simetra.

I go away for a week, and I don’t hear about new medals? That’s it – no more vacations for me.

Congratulations, sweetheart. I am, as always, infinitely proud of you.

Hmph. Do remember everyone on active duty right now got the National Defense ribbon. Hell, they give them out without the backing, so now I have to go and buy the damn metel backing peice so I can wear the medal.

They always get ya somehow.
