Judging just by listening to local opinion, this was not a very popular decision. It followed a bill that lowered the penalties for many offenses in the guise of reducing prison overcrowding, which was also not very popular withe the citizenry.
The ramifications of these bills will bring about changes with the next election cycle.
I shudder to think who the people of Nebraska would elect if conservative Republicans have become too bleeding-heart for their tastes.

I think this is great. Like **Bricker **said, right thing, right reasons. I think there are other right reasons for abolishing capital punishment as well, but this is great.

A couple of weeks later, a female police officer was shot and killed by a known gang banger who did shoot first as Senator Chambers suggested.
Nah; turns out they aren’t gonna be affected at all by this law.
(Well, until someone files a lawsuit about it, which if it was my life on the line, I’d damn sure hurry up and file one, so I’m fairly sure that someone will sue to stop any/all execution(s).)
