Nebraska Repeals The Death Penalty

Congratulations, Nebraska! I’d like to show my support by contributing to your economy. Do you sell anything that I need/want?

This is a truly awesome triumph. The right thing, done the right way. I salute the Nebraska legislature.

High-fructose corn syrup?

Good for them.

Presumably they now have an electric chair that’s surplus to requirements. Also hogs.

Yay for Nebraska!

One of those giant foam Herbie Husker hats, maybe?

I suppose you could get some corn on the cob.

Spam

“My words cannot express how appalled I am that we have lost a critical tool to protect law enforcement and Nebraska families,” Governor Ricketts said in a statement.

This is the guy who bragged about having Sarah Palin’s endorsement, so grain of salt.

Sounds like the Nebraska executive has enough critical tools.

A class A share of Berkshire Hathaway stock can be yours for only $215K.

Maybe the first time I’ve ever agreed with you. The right decision done for the right reasons, more or less.

Do Nebraskans even commit murder?

Charlie Starkweather was a notable murderer, along with his girlfriend, Caril Ann Fugate.

Wow. Not your typical Nebraskan.

At least he wasn’t a Scotsman. :dubious:

Yes, there are murders in Nebraska. Fewer numerically than many other states (57 in 2013, fewer than in 33 other states in that same year), and alower per capita rate (lower than 32 other states), but nonetheless.

The Nebraska 2013 number probably looks like one bad week in California, but the population of Nebraska is much lower too.

Here’s another.

Here’s the list of the 10 people who were on death row in Nebraska and were affected by this decision.

Ok, here’s what I’m looking at:
Electric chair and or hogs. I’m tempted with the possibilities, but that can’t end well.

Herbie Husker Hat. I will look into that, and report back.

High Fructose Corn Syrup. I just can’t do any more, but would gladly support the corn industry in other ways. Which brings me to…
Corn on the cob. I live in my own corn country south of I-80 near Chicago. In the summertime I have available to me all the fresh sweetcorn I can shake a stick at- so no more corn.

Spam, owned by Hormel. Hmm. I like Spam. (I think- it’s been quite a while since I’ve had any.) A factory expansion for Spam is the most promising option to me so far, and I may like the Spam anyway.

Berkshire Hathaway stock. I would need to move a few decimal places to make that happen.

Thank you all for the suggestions, and congrats again to the people in Nebraska!
