I would add Begotten by Elias Merhige. This is easily the most disturbing film I’ve ever seen. While it’s not big on suspenseful tension, it’s one hell of a macabre ride. May have to watch it on Google Video since it’s nearly impossible to find elsewhere, except for eBay.
Good lists. My favourite Halloween movie is Young Frankenstein. I also like An American Werewolf in London. It has a mix of comedy and horror, and the special effects hold up pretty well.
Here is my similar thread on horror movies.
Gojira is now available in the US, & is much better than the splced.edited Godzilla.
Just some horror movies-- some good, some really bad. Most of them are from the 80’s. Kind of a cheesefest.

The Vanishing (the original Dutch version; not a “horror” movie, but the end will haunt you long after you see it)
I just ordered this from Amazon–it’s getting to be the time of year for scary movies! I’ve been poking through the bargain bins for DVDs, since I’m not a huge watch 'em over and over kind of person, but this one ain’t to be found in the bargain bins.
There’s another thread about the original **Halloween **movie, so I’m going to get that one, too, I think.
And since it is almost …October and it is time for horror movies
