I get where you’re going with that. I’m not a blockbusters-only guy, but I’m a last-20-years-only guy, so in terms of the discussion group you’re looking for, I’m probably just as unrefined and out of place as the blockbuster crowd.
What would keep me away, as in just not interested in opening it, would be a name that clearly and obviously described a discussion group focused on silent film, Hays Code era; essentially anything black and white. If I see a conversation about black and white films, I’m likely to not participate at all.
I wouldn’t recognize half the names suggested so far and so wouldn’t know what the discussion was about. Meaning they wouldn’t successfully scare me off. Something like “Black and White Film Discussion” is a thread I’d never open, nor would a Zack Snyder fan, I’m guessing.
Well, I mean, trolls would still come in looking to shit on the conversation, but you can’t make them voluntarily not do that. You can make Joe Blockbusters not interested to begin with, though.
Or maybe label it as focused on silent film, but you talk about whatever you like, just with a crowd who all at least appreciates silent film. That’d probably be a good crowd for the discussion you describe.
Just avoid the obscure, because how would I know to stay away if I don’t recognize the reference? Also avoid generic, because that’s equally welcoming to the blockbuster crowd.
Update: I went with “Shhhhhhh!” But there are much better suggestions in this thread so that may change.
