I just need to make sure the facebook link I want to put on my business cards for my very small time side hustle is correct. I want this checked by someone who is not already my facebook friend and with a computer I haven’t already used to go there. I can’t, off the top of my head, figure out a person in my real life that meets these criteria that I feel like asking a favor of.
So I just need a doper who will send me a private message. I will send you a message back with the facebook link as I plan to put it on my business card. That person will type that link into a browser and tell me what comes up when they do that. Then I will send a message with my eternal thanks and gratitude.
Looks like you got it taken care of, but going to your link in a private/incognito window would work as well. Bonus points for using a different browser as well.
I’m not sure that’s true. Private does a nice job of ensuring no record of the browsing is left on your local PC.
I do not know that it prevents authentication to the server. Which might mean the OP would see the results of that link as her logged-in self, not as a random unknown nobody.
Considering the main use case for private mode is porn, and many such sites require a login (or so I’m told), I think it’s real unlikely that private mode would block her login. And depending on how the rest of her auto-logging-in gizmos & settings are configured she may never see the login done invisibly on her behalf.
Bottom line: private mode covers your tracks on your PC and only on your PC. Everybody else in the chain, including any advertisers on the target site still know what you your computer did. Whether any of those agents already have enough external info to tie your computer back to you as a person is unknowable.
