I’m trying to find the recipe to a delicious chilled cucumber soup that I ate on a Carnival cruise ship (the Sensation) in 1996. My recipe archive (http://www.neosoft.com/recipes) had about three dozen recipes for chilled cucumber soup, so I have no idea which one (if any) I ate. The Carnival site was no help, either .
I know it’s a long shot, but can anyone here help? Chef Troy?
Thanks.
“Hey Torquemada, whaddya say?
I’ve been away at the auto-da-fé.
Auto-da-fé? What’s an auto-da-fé?
It’s what you oughtta not do, but you do anyway!”
first, nice quote. excellent movie. second, seeing as you didn’t really give us a whole lot to go with, i’d say try a couple of the recipes you found. were there any easily identifiable tastes which could help you narrow it down?
Well, it’s been a while, so chances are that the chef from the “Sensation” has moved on. But I’d get Carnival’s coporate address or phone and go from there. They may at least know the chef’s name, and if he’s moved on. Some places are very open with their recipes. Others are quite proprietary.
The magazine “Bon Appetit” has a column where you write in a request like this and they go to the restaurant and try to get it to share the recipe. You might try that.
This is a long shot, but you may also want to put in a request at Top Secret Recipes, either in their message boards or a direct request to the guy who writes the books.
