So like an idiot I purchased tickets for a Cirque du Soleil performance in Denver for the wrong dates. We’re only there for two days but I accidentally bought tickets for the week after.
I’ve contacted them about changing the dates, but their website says no exchanges so I’m not very optimistic.
I am not in the US so I’m not sure what I should do if I want to resell my tickets. Should I just sell them on craigslist? Or are there websites that specialize in reselling tickets?
If I could afford it, I would probably just donate them to an organization in the Denver area. Maybe some sick/poor kid would like to see the show. Then buy tickets for the right date.
If not, I might put them on Craigslist in the Denver area. They would probably go quickly.
If there’s a market for them (“would probably go quickly”) I would definitely try StubHub first. I’ve never used it as a seller, and I’m guessing there are fees, but it is specifically set up for selling tickets and protects the buyer and seller so I think it’s worth losing a couple bucks for the security.
I’ve sold tickets on Craigslist before too but only when I was able to say “ok meet me in front of the venue with the cash.” You could send a PayPal invoice, I guess that would offer some security to the buyer and seller. But you can’t be too sure.
Have you actually spoken to anyone at their ticket office yet? They may have no problem switching the tickets to another date even though it says no exchanges. Several times I have bought tickets to Broadway shows, which also say no refunds or exchanges on them, but when I realized I was unable to attend on those dates I called Telecharge and they switched the dates for me without a second thought.
I have all positive experiences selling on StubHub, and that would be my first recommendation for your circumstance, assuming the ticket office won’t help you out.
Thanks everyone! I haven’t heard back from the ticket office yet - I’ll try calling them tomorrow. If not, StubHub seems like a good bet. Thanks for all the good advice.
