Need advice on extra study for a kindergartner

Interesting – I’m planning on doing the things people here are talking about w/my twins next year. They’re 4 and currently enrolled in “pre-K” with the 5-yr-olds (b/c of space issues at their preschool) three afternoons/wk. They seem to be getting it, spelling and math and whatnot. So I figure, why rush them into an academic path?

Next year I’m enrolling them in soccer, music and science/art instead of preschool. About 5 hrs/wk of instruction (science/art is a 3-hr Saturday morning program, and rather expensive). And I think there’s a weekly playgroup at the park.

That, plus our usual trips to the children’s museum and various art projects, should keep them busy enough. Otherwise they find mischief (and I find Moon Sand in my sinks).

I used to think that getting good grades was so important; now I think that being physically, socially and emotionally healthy is essential.
