Need advice on whale-watching in N.H.

We’re visiting New Hampshire in August for a wedding. We want to go whale-watching one day. Does anybody have advice on the best outfits or anything else that might be useful?

Stay near the coast.

Ads for whale watching: If you see Dolphins, that counts, and sometimes it’s all you see.

Double check what the captain considers a whale.

btw: I’m not kidding.

Avoid Lake Winnipesaukee…

Bring sunblock and sunglasses and use them. It you’re not used to prolonged exposure to reflected sunlight, and spend the day in a shade-free environment with high relative wind… Ouchie!

Pack sweatshirts and sunscreen. Whale watching off of the Maine coast is the only time I ever froze and burned at the same time.

Harpoon?

Don’t go in NH. Go to Maine or Gloucester, MA. New Hampshire doesn’t really have much coast, and as such, doesn’t have much in the way of whale watching outfits, that I’m aware of. And definitely double check the definition of whale, and see if you can find one that doesn’t count dolfins.

Hmmm…where exactly in NH are you going? The coast of NH is only 18 miles long, so I wouldn’t disregard places in MA or ME that might be just as easy if not easier to get to.

When I went whale watching with grade school (in southern MA), the waves were so bad that people got sick. So we turned around and half the people went to the Ocean Spray cranberry place instead. Those of us with the brave bellies got to see the whales! Just saying…steal one of those vomit bags off the airplane on the way.

P.S. I got married in NH too (but not in August!). Was quite lovely.

Hey Flymaster, no more cutting in line!

Walking away muttering about how long it takes me to write and post a post.
