I shut down my VMware, rebooted my laptop. Once rebooted, my laptop is connected to the internet (wireless) but VMware says no internet connection. It should see the same connection my main OS is on right? I didnt change any setting I just did a shutdown. Any idea why its not seeing my connection?
Did your laptop install any updates or anything like that when it rebooted? Sometimes OS updates and anti-virus updates can screw up the VM network connection. There’s usually a special network driver that gets installed on the host that inserts packets from the VM into the host’s network and routes incoming packets to the VM’s virtual network driver. If the host’s driver gets blocked or otherwise interfered with then the VM may not be able to use it.
Ugh.
I fixed it. No, no updates installed. I just shut down laptop and came home. Checked device manager in VMware and somehow the network adapters had been disabled.
HA! Had the same thing happen to me. I was confused for the longest time and I just did not understand why I couldn’t connect.
