My boyfriend has spent the last 8 years of his life in a grad school cave and has finally emerged and has been showing a noticable interest in architecture. We’ve taken a couple of walking tours and he has expressed interest in visiting the few Frank Lloyd Wright houses that are around so I’m more than happy to encourage this new interest. For Christmas, I was thinking about getting him a book on architecture and there are soooo many to choose from on Amazon. Does anyone have any to recommend? I’m looking for one with lots of big, colorful photos and a quick summary about the building, the context in which it was built, and the architect. I remember I had one in college called like “100 Greatest Buildings in America” but the pictures were black and white, but something along those lines would be perfect. Nothing too academic please! Thank you all who respond.
This isn’t what you asked for, but it’s a great gift book for those that love architecture:

It’s a cool pop up book that talks about architecture in general.
