How is it Scylla? Did you get your point? Huh? Scylla? Scylla? Scylla! You get down off that barn! It’s not worth it! Think of your family, man! What would they do without you, to fend off the evil Nazi Groundhogs? To keep them safe from marauding goats? To protect the cat from toddler poopy?!? They NEED you – We NEED you –
Okay, thank god, just come down slowly…watch your step there…whew, that’s a relief…glad to have you back, man. There’s always April…
Look, don’t kid yourself. This is serious karma-adjustment here; “happy thoughts” ain’t gonna cut it. It seems to me we need a pan-theological approach to deal with triple-witching hour, a conservative god, prayer and whale rights. (We’ll address the appparently related “who’s your daddy?” issue later.) Let’s try this: take one cauldron (for the witches); fill with potatoes, corned beef and green beer (in honor of St. Paddy); add two parts krill (for the whales). Simmer over a fire fed with a month’s worth of Wall Street Journals; decant the sacrificial brew onto holy ground (a Citibank branch will do) while watching msnbc. After a moment of silent prayer, punch your ticker symbol into bloomberg.com. Let me know if it works; if your heart is impure you may experience certain anomolies.
(At least you’re not worshipping Greenspan or Abby Cohen–debunking those heresies is really getting old.)
I never got anything out of Emc, but around 3:00 my $200 CPST option investment was worth about $1,400. The stock was at 26.75. It looked to me like it might go higher.
In other words I got greedy, and didn’t sell. It expired worthless.
I blame the teeming millions for not giving me a single happy thought.
We’ll see if I give you a virtual hug the next time your cat gets sick you bastards!
Apparently it wasn’t obvious that we all got together and voted Maeglin as our purveyor of happy thoughts. Either that, or we were voting him off the island, I’m not sure.
Seriously, I don’t think I’ve ever hit the go button on E-trade as often during the last five minutes of the trading day–I was really aching there with ya’, for what it’s worth. (No, didn’t have any money on it, just love a good cliffhanger). Sorry it didn’t go your way.
Our hearts are with you…and all the other poor bastards who lost their shorts today…[stock market humor] actually the guys with shorts shoulda done pretty well [/stock market humor].
So how does this whole put and call thing work anyways? (Love to hear your description – in layman’s terms, please…I’ve tried to read up on it before unsuccessfully.)
Have a good weekend and try not to think about it –
Decideng to be smart, I unwound both option positions, and grossed $4,200 ou of the deal!
I used $2,000 to buy five of the April 35s and 5 of the 40s.
So no matter what happens, I’ve made $1,000!
I took money off the table, but increased my exposure from 6-10 contracts, so if the stock keeps moving (43 is my target) I make even more money at a faster rate.
I think I’m going to go price that new Convertible Lexus, the SC 430
Especially for getting out when the getting’s good. That’s a tough skill to learn (ask any gambler). I see CPST tanked the last two days, so I’d say you did pretty well! (Hope it turns around for April…)
You do know about the Teeming Millionaires stock challenge, right? The current competition is closed, but I’m guessing sdimbert will be running it again after the 13th. Keep an eye on it and sign up…
Paul
P.S. - It’s whistlepig season again, ain’t it? Maybe that Lexus would work well for running 'em down in the fields…convertible would allow the wife to drive whilst you pick 'em off on the run. Then the payments would be a business expense!
