Throwing a Hawaiian themed party and need to create a mix CD for background music.
It will be a light-hearted affair so I don’t need authentic music, although that would work too. I’m even open to Hawaiian novelty songs. My only restriction is they need to be fairly dance-able.
What cha got?
The Sweet Hollywaiians. Buy their CDs on CD Baby. I recommend “Hula Girl.”

Can’t go wrong with Israel Kamakawiwo’ole or Gabby Pahinui.
His Hawaiian version of “Over the Rainbow” is a classic.

You have to have “Tiny Bubbles” by Don Ho.
Hawaiian Swing by Big Kahuna & the Copa Cat Pack.
Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride from Lilo and Stitch.
Or, you can do what Lilo did, and just play Elvis
Let’s Talk Dirty In Hawaiian , by John Prine.
Maybe a little risqué if it’s gonna be a bunch of children at the party, but it’s certainly lighthearted. Plus, sweeeeeet Hawaiian style pedal steel.
I always thought Ukulele Lady by Arlo Guthrie was nice.
There’s always Blue Hawaii and Rockahula.
Any song done as a ukulele cover should work.
If you want a video included: King Benny Nawahi. The song is “Mauna Kea”.
Thanks for this thread. I just listened to “Hula Girl” and remembered how fabulous “Twelfth Street Rag” is on ukulele.
“Theme From Hawaii Five-O ”
“Island Girl” by Elton John
Wow, great suggestions - they are all on the mix. Thanks guys.
Done!
How about Hawaiian War Chant ? I like the Tommy Dorsey version, but there are many others.
There’s also Pearly Shells . There are a lot of versions on Amazon - the one by Randy Lorenzo sounds pretty good.
Puff The Magic Dragon (who frolicked in the Autumn mist in a land called Hanalei?) Yeah, I know that’s not what it meant, but I like 50 First Dates)
