need Heathrow navigating help kinda fast

So Sunday morning I’m flying into Heathrow. I just found out a friend of mine is arriving at the same time and I can freeload onto his car service If we can meet up. I am arriving In terminal 3 and he is arriving in terminal 4. The Internet led me to believe that I can take a free train from terminal 3 to terminal 4. Is this true and is there any really obvious landmark in terminal 4 baggage claim where we can meet? Neither of us will have phones. Thanks in advance for any help!

I can answer your first question: yes it is true you can take free trains between the terminals. They leave at regular intervals.

You will have to meet in the arrivals hall which is outside baggage claim. The easiest spot to find is the Costa Coffee.

The train can take a little while - around 20 - 25 minutes minutes by the time you get to the train, waited around for it to arrive and climbed out of the other side.

Just wanted to say thanks for the help! It was all fairly obvious once I got there but it’s always reassuring to hear from real people.

You think we’re real?

Some are irrational, but only if you bring pi.

well, you’re reassuring.

I’ve never been to Heathrow, but I expect it would be incredibly crowded with fast moving throngs of people. I’m sure I’m wrong, but this non-existent person worries that you will miss your other party while searching & dragging luggage
through the mobs of happy people. Is there a specific landmark/shop/restaurant/pub in terminal 4 that you both could agree to meet at and at a specific time (make sure they know its London time: GMT -0)?

…making all his nowhere plans for nobody…

And you have to consider daylight saving time as well.

Well played. (timing is everything)

I’ve been through Heathrow three or four times. I’m pretty sure the train that you are looking for is actually a subway. You’ll be looking for signs directing you down a few levels to get to the stop. Someone correct me if I’m misremembering.

Yep, it’s an underground train between terminals, but not the London Underground. Here, have it straight from the horse’s mouth: Travel between terminals | Heathrow

You want to take the Heathrow Express (free between terminals, but not to London) from Terminal 3 to T4. I’ve also generally found Heathrow staff to be very friendly, so when in doubt, just ask.

Also, there are maps of each terminal on that website, along with a list of shops and meeting points. I suggest you arrange to meet at a specific shop at a specific time, and if you make it a coffee shop, the person who arrives early can sit down rather than stand and wait.

ETA: um. Before posting, check date of OP. :smack:
