Need help booking flight with Sprit Airlines.

Hello Everyone,

I’m trying to book a flight online with Spirit Airlines and I’m confused. When I get a price for the flight it gives me two prices, in this case $29 and $49, but there is no information on what the difference is between the two. They are both called Bare.

The Spirit online help is of none and ice been in a automated loop on the phone. If someone knows please tell me. Thanks

Could it be that they are for different flight times?

I bet the $29 price is for the “$9 club members”

I think you’re right. Sadly the website doesn’t make that clear. Either that or I’m a moron.

This is most likely it, but there should be text next to each fare stating so.

Knowing Spirit Airlines, there’s probably an additional fee for the explanatory text.

Where is it from/to? If I choose a random leg I only get one price but there are several flights, each at a different time of day and each with a fare next to it. A bare fare that I can add options to later.

My advice is not to book with Spirit Airlines. You WILL end up spending an amount comparable to other budget airlines and the hassle is not worth it.

Spirit is also in the middle of some labor strife with their pilots and there’s a chance that your flight may be cancelled if the pilots decide to get the sniffles that day.

This statement is far too general to be informative. I flew Spirit a month ago, and was able to fly from a small airport with free parking for much less than other options. Spirit certainly nickel and dimes you, but sometimes it is a good option for a low price. FWIW, I had zero hassle on either end of my trip. The flights went smoothly and on-time, and the airport and flight crews were friendly.

But, yes to answer the OP, the low price was probably for $9 Club members.

Well I thought twice and decided to book with Delta. Orlando to Atlanta was only $89 one way. Thanks for the help.

This!

I had the same experience, the key is expectations and planning. The place I was more concerned with was their cancellation and rebooking process, which is much less flyer friendly than the major airlines.

Yes. And if your flight is cancelled due to mechanical or weather issues, you have a lot less help and fewer options to get where you are going.

IMHO, you have chosen wisely. Spirit is the only airline on my airline blacklist, after one flight with them. (ETA: Well, two, I guess. I came back with them.)

Probably want to add Allegiant to that list.

I don’t even know who they are, but I’ll take your word for it and not be tempted by them, given that you have the same impression of Spirit.

About Spirit? What pulykamell said. Once was enough. I won’t compare them to Greyhound, as I actually liked Greyhound the one time I used them. Everyone has to compare things on their own dollars/convenience ratio, but I’d rather pay 50% more, or hell, drive, than fly Spirit.

If Allegiant gets two minutes of hate too, is it because it’s a regional?

My experience with Spirit was a no frills transportation service (with charges for everything) but the actual flight was uneventful and fine. It was certainly better than some SouthWest flights I’ve had. I’ve heard horror stories from Spirit passengers, but I’ve hear horror stories from every airline.
