Need Help Fast: I need a good bit torrent client

I’m trying to send my sister a moderately large file, but I’m not sure if there is a limit to the size of attachments. What bittorrent client do people recommend? What should I be concerned about? How do I set make it reasonably secure between just two parties? Wow, I’m really old and inept. Thanks.

This may not be the answer you’re looking for, but if you have instant messaging contact with your sister, that’s probably a pretty good way to send it. I’ve had people send me files in the 100’s of MB over MSN/Windows Live Messenger.

Bittorrent probably isn’t what you’re looking for. Check out YouSendit.

You’re probably better off using some form of file upload service, since torrent programs generally derive their strength from having multiple persons share the same file, which won’t be the case when it’s just you and your sister.
If the file’s not larger than 100 MB, YouSendIt might work well (I think it’s still free, but you might have to register).

Thanks guys, both those ideas sound pretty good. My IT friend suggested YouSendIt also. He was able to get a large file to his mom, so I figure it has got to be pretty easy.

I believe bittorrent is great for transferring large files that have multiple copies on the Internet. It’s great because you can DL one bit from person A, another bit from person B, etc. (Wow, is this a vast understatement). Anyway, the point being if you have a particular file to send that isn’t already (somewhat) commonly available and likely to be offered as a share by others, the above Yousendit or similar recommendations are the way to go.

Rhythmdvl, yeah in the back of my mind I kind of thought there was something about it being a massively parallel system, but I’ve never even used the thing. The bittorrent site was mentioning something about if both computers were connected simultaneously, you could actually achieve a reasonable transmission rate. I hope to learn more about it.
