My oldest son is turning 14 on April 30th, and he has asked me for a comforter/bedspread with an anime graphic on it. That’s all he has asked me for, and he’s a great kid (who’s too quickly turning into a great young man), so I’d like to try to come through on this one. So I am turning to you Dopers, the smartest and most diverse group of folks I know, for a little help here.
Unfortunately, ‘anime’ is one of the many popular teenager things I haven’t kept up with. I know just about nothing about the characters, storylines or anything else. I know that there is a difference between anime, manga and sensei, and I know that this stuff spans the spectrum from Pokemon to tentacle encounters. I’m looking for something in the middle. Old enough for a teen, but clean enough not to educate his younger brother or make his gramma blush. One of his friends has a website about anime, and I know he likes that particular set of characters, but I don’t know who they are and I don’t want to ask the friend and risk them telling Steve what I’m up to.
I’ve tried searching on my own (at sites like JC Penneys, Amazon, etc) and I’m having a terrible time finding anything besides Sailor Moon, DragonBall Z, etc.
So, what I’m asking is:
Could someone look at this site and identify the series for me? Standard warnings apply - it’s a geocities site so there are pop ups, and I haven’t looked at the whole thing so I can’t guarantee it safe for work.
Could anyone reccomend some other series (brands? flavors? What word am I looking for?) in case I can’t find the one depicted on that site?
Does anyone know where I can buy this stuff?
I’ll be grateful for any help y’all can give me.

Its characters from Cowboy Bebop,and good luck finding sheets with them on it you’ll need it :D.
The series was aimed at a more mature audience,so really i don’t think you will find sheets.
But i do recommend you check out the series for yourself,you might be surprised at how sophisticated the storylines are,this is not pokemon.
Seriously, try to make friends with someone in Japan. That’s the only way I can think of. You might want to take a look at Ebay’s Japanese site which does ship to the US.

Sorry, I mean… AMAZON.COM’s Japanese site. Amazon.co.jp or something like that. Although it might be worth looking at Ebay’s Jaanese site too (although US shipping is by no means guaranteed).
You might be better off looking for someone to print them for you. Most anime (at least the type that your son wouldn’t vomit immediately upon viewing) isn’t mainstream enough for bed sheet merchandising (the mind boggles at the thought of Overfiend bed sheets…).
The good folks at Anime Extreme may be able to help. Besides selling and renting books and DVDs, they sell a lot of model kits and such. I’ve never seen anything resembling bedsheets in their store, but the staff may know a supplier of sheets and T-shirts and other clothing items. Give them a call.

Hmmm… once upon a time, there was a company that offered a Bubblegum Crisis pillow case featuring one of Kenichi Sonoda’s pictures of the cast (the Knight Sabers - Sylia, Linna, Priss, and Nene) in their sleepwear all taking a nap on a big bed.
Good luck finding anything like that for Cowboy Bebop, though. Like effac3d said earlier, CB is a sophisticated anime that tells a story, rather than trying to sell kids a new toy each week.
Yeah… as I search, the company that once offered the pillowcase (The Right Stuf International) no longer offers such things. You could probably get a really cool CB T-shirt like the one I have, though.

And after reading all your posts, I understand why I couldn’t find a bedspread or even print fabric. So I think I’ll just look into T-shirts and such like some have suggested.
One thing I did find, though, were these cloth posters or ‘scrolls’ as the sites call them. I’m considering maybe ordering one and making a quilt with the scroll as a center block… I’m not sure yet.
