The computer has symantec endpoint protection. During the daily scan, every day, it finds this trojan horse and puts it in the quarantine bin. Good so far, but the the virus keeps replicating in the quarantine folder to the point that I can’t empty the folder, or even open it. Is there anyway to get rid of this problem. I tried starting in safe mode to see if I could open the folder, and that didn’t help.
I’m no computer expert, but I know you can do a google search for the name of your virus. You will find several removal tools this way. Another non-expert piece of advice: choose one that seems credible.
If the virus keeps replicating then that means it is still active and running. Ergo your AV product isn’t blocking it at all. I’ll echo the recommendation of Avast, but you might also try Malware Bytes.
Ok, I read through the sticky, well not all of it as there are over 200 posts, but I know the problem is not spyware, or adware, and I do have an anti-virus program running. So, the next step was to install and run the Avast boot scan, when the virus was found, I selected delete all. The computer has been in a continuous loop for about 30 minutes. The trojan is replicating as fast as it can be deleted.
Yes, somehow I f**cked this up. The virus was on the wife’s computer, whenever I ran Avast, Symantek would pop up as it would catch the virus. The virus would replicate, and freeze up the computer.
I tried to uninstall Symantec and instead made it so she cannot log on to her computer with her profile, she can use mine and it will work. So I am at a loss. I am going to try to find a computer repair shop here before we lose anything on the computer.
