Need help removing car stereo

Hey all,

I recently purchased an integrated hookup for my iPod and my Scion xA (the iceLink) and need to get access to the back of my Pioneer stereo’s head piece (the main unit mounted in the dashboard). Does anyone know how I can remove the trim and pull it out? The product manufacturer, in its infinite wisdom, decided not to publish an installation guide until after release

And, to make things clear, yes I am determined to do this myself. Everyone around here who otherwise might be able are either a) unavailable, b) idiots and/or c) want to charge me an arm, a leg and a decent portion of my torso.

You will probably need a special tool (which you can make yourself) to remove the stereo from the dashboard. Read step #3 here.

While that list is nice, it doesn’t really get into how I can specifically access things in my car. Sorry if I sound annoyed, but I’m just pissy at my manufacturers for making things so obscure.

This might help, Prium: http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=21

Note the stickies at the top, particularly.

Actually, this is even better: http://www.scionlife.com/tech/

Another likely source of info would be Crutchfield - either www.crutchfield.com or call them at 1-888-955-6000. If they don’t know how to remove or install stereo equipment in a car, nobody does.

Car stereos are more and more commonly made so removal is difficult. Whether this actually cuts down on the number of radios that get stolen, I don’t know.
