Need help transferring audio to digital media

Although I can’t remember who it is, I know that at least one of our members is involved in transferring audio from old LP records to digital media.

I’m looking for him (or them) or for recommendations for others who can provide this service. I have recently acquired some recordings not available (and not lilely to be made available) in digital format, and I’d like to preserve them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated; thanks.

Bo

I’ve transferred vinyl to CD before, but with a borrowed turntable that I’ve since returned. Here’s an old thread on the subject.

I’ve done it several times. As with wheelie, though, I used someone else’s turntable. I’m a Mac person, if you want detailed instructions from a Mac perspective, I’ll post them.

Thanks guys.

I have some software to do this, but what I don’t have is a turntable.

However, from following the link to that old thread, I found that fishbicycle was the SDMB member I was thinking of that did this for a living.

With any luck I’ll hear from him soon, and get this untouched copy of an LP transferred properly.

Thanks again!

Bo

I’m here. What can I do for you? You have one still-sealed or mint-minus LP you need to have transferred? Please feel free to send me an e-mail if you’d like to discuss it.

I have to say that although I’ve read the webpages of a couple of places that do this service, I can’t vouch for the quality or methods of anyone’s work but my own. I know that as you request further processes to isolate and remove noises, the price goes way up, but I haven’t heard any of the results of anyone’s work to be able to give you an opinion on it. But sure, look me up in my profile and I’ll give you whatever help I can.

Thanks, fish. I already sent you some email.
