Need help - used mini-van

My car is on it’s last miles. I have done everything possible to eek out as many months as I can without buying a new car. I think I may be one of the only Americans who has no real interest in cars. I don’t know one model from the other, and always feel like I am getting ripped off when I go to buy a car. The car I have now is a Buick LeSabre that I bought new in 1994.

I have no desire to trade cars in every year or so. While I wish I had the money to buy a new car, I don’t think I can, so I am looking for used.

Here is what I need, in order

  1. Dependable

  2. I’m thinking about a mini-van, because I need it to seat six, and I don’t really want an SUV

  3. Leather seats - I have kids and leather is so much easier to clean

  4. I’d like for it to be easy to load and unload for groceries ( I am SUCH a mom)

  5. I’m sure this is where I should be listing horsepower or other “car talk” - but I have no idea what any of that stuff means :wally

Any advice?

You can’t go wrong with a Honda Odyssey.

Second the Honda Odyssey. We sold ours after 5 years, no mechanical problems, and the flip down backseat makes unloading and loading a snap.

Any certain years to look for or avoid?

My step daughter got rid of a Honda Oddessey about 6 months ago. It was a 2002 and was turning into a money pit. Only 80,000 miles and it required a new drive axle, radiator, and rear suspension bushings. When she traded it in the engine control computer needed replacement. Because of the high mileage, I think the previous owner ran it into the ground then got rid of it. She traded it in on a 2003 Olds Silouhette and she likes it much better (V6 vs. 4 cylinder power).
